http://buzzpreview.buzzcomics.net/2017-01/Indes/800.jpg

Inspired by classic sci-fi stories like the works of Ray Bradbury, Andrei Tarkovsky’s Solaris, and Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey along with more recent films like Contact and Arrival, Loveness is crafting an existential sci-fi narrative on a massive scale, brought to life through Juan Doe’s bold, vibrant artwork. “When [editor-in-chief] Mike Marts and AfterShock offered me my first creator-owned series, I tried to pitch the biggest idea I could think of,” says Loveness. “Mike and the AfterShock team were completely on board and helped foster it from the beginning. I couldn’t have asked for a more open and exciting creative experience.”

“I’ve always loved big, existential sci-fi that takes a swing at the universe,” says Loveness. “AfterShock gave me the freedom to combine spirituality, sci-fi, and horror with Cosmogony and Apocalypse narratives in every issue. We’ve got a psychic astronaut traveling to dead worlds, talking to space ghosts and trying to figure out what’s killing life across the Universe…should have something fun and weird for everybody. And on art, Juan Doe brings such intense stylization to this. I’ve been a fan of his work for years, so it’s great to finally collaborate with him. I am not worthy, and luckily he hasn’t figured that out yet. Please don’t tell him.”

Archie Andrews and the gang have seen it all since the characters made their comics debut in 1941, and this fall they’re going back to their roots in a five-issue mini-series set in Riverdale during World War II – ARCHIE 1941.

Written by comics legend Mark Waid (ARCHIE, Captain America) with longtime collaborators co-writer Brian Augustyn (The Flash, JLA) and artist Peter Krause (Insufferable, Irredeemable) with colors by Kelly Fitzpatrick (ARCHIE) and letters by Jack Morelli (VAMPIRONICA), ARCHIE 1941 finds Riverdale dealing with the impact of the impending conflict on the small town and in the personal lives of Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and Reggie Mantle.http://archiecomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Archie19411Krause-666x1024.jpg

Second Coming a trouvé son point de chute : Ahoy Comics!

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/12/arts/second-coming-jesus-comic-book.html

Second Coming, a comic-book series with Jesus Christ as a character, is getting a second chance after DC Comics canceled it last month before its release. The series, written by Mark Russell and drawn by Richard Pace, will be published by AHOY Comics this summer. In the satirical comic, Jesus has a superhero roommate named Sunstar and learns what has become of his Gospel on earth.

Russell said his inspiration for Second Coming was to tell a story about power, in particular about how society “has fetishized physical violence and force as being the solution to every problem.” During a recent telephone interview, Russell said his goal was to examine that notion “by having a superhero who’s bought into this ideology being forced to confront somebody who has a completely different approach to human dynamics. Christ seemed like the natural standard-bearer for that nonviolent approach.”

The series was originally announced in July 2018 at San Diego Comic-Con. The next month, Russell discussed his plans in an interview with Bleeding Cool, a website devoted to pop culture. “The conceit is that God was so upset with Jesus’s performance the first time he came to Earth, since he was arrested so soon and crucified shortly after, that he has kept him locked up since then,” he said.

There was no adverse reaction until January, when news about the comic was reported by outlets like the Christian Broadcasting Network, Christian Headlines and Fox News. The Christian Broadcasting article described Second Coming as “closer to blasphemous than biblical” and noted the comic’s plans to present Jesus as a failure. A Citizen Go online petition asking DC to pull the series from its publication schedule garnered more than 235,000 signatures. The petition described the comic as inappropriate, and asked, “Can you imagine the media and political uproar if DC Comics was altering and poking fun at the story of Muhammad … or Buddha?” DC canceled the title on Feb. 13.

Russell said that Second Coming, which will run for at least six issues, is respectful of what Christians “profess to believe.” He added, “It’s not as respectful as to what they actually do. It’s not a satire of Christ so much as it is a satire on how his followers of the last 2,000 years have turned his message of forgiveness and empathy into one of power and domination, which is as un-Christlike as one can possibly imagine.”

This is not the first time the writer has taken on God. In 2013, Russell wrote “God Is Disappointed in You,” with illustrations by Shannon Wheeler, which promised to strip the Bible of its arcane language to get to its core message.

This promotional image by Pace was unveiled when the series was originally announced.C

The artist Richard Pace was recruited by the original editor of Second Coming when it was planned for Vertigo, an imprint of DC Comics, and he said he was intrigued by the mix of religion and satire. “I’m not afraid of that, so I said sure,” Pace recalled. He said he has received death threats since the project was announced.

“No one has read the book other than the people who are working on it,” Pace said. “I know full well that the only person coming out of it looking good is Jesus.”

Pace will lay out each issue and draw the scenes in heaven and in biblical times, while a second artist, who has not yet been named, will handle the scenes set on earth. “It gives us a chance to have a really visual indication of where the reader is in a story,” he said.

Another interpretation of Jesus can be found in a hardcover graphic novel to be released on March 20 by Image Comics. “Jesusfreak,” by Joe Casey and Benjamin Marra, is described on the publisher’s website as telling a violent story of the Messiah as “a kung fu demon slayer” who is “grappling with his station in life, the politics of the era, and divine martial art energies.” The book was discussed in a segment on “Fox & Friends” last week, and a Change.org petition to stop it had about 2,800 signatures.

Both Russell and Pace said that the delay in publication and the move from DC to AHOY has given them time to improve Second Coming. The first issue will include six extra pages that recount Christ’s memories of a childhood friend during his first visit to earth. And DC had requested some changes — like less coarse language and adding fig leaves to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden — that are no longer necessary. While Russell was ready to make them, he knew more would be coming, he said.

“That’s what made me realize that this was going to slowly turn into a more watered-down version of what I had originally envisioned,” he said. When he asked for the rights of the project to be returned, DC agreed.

Tom Peyer, the editor in chief of AHOY Comics, was happy to welcome Second Coming into its flock of series, all of which have an element of comedy or satire. The company began publishing last September.

Peyer said he was not worried about the strong prepublication reaction to the series. “I don’t think a comic book is anything to get that upset about,” he said. “I just think it’s a really good story that people have a right to read.”

FIGHT GIRLS!!!

I'm so glad that the cat is out of the bag.

Fight Girls is my next creator-owned project that I'll be writing and drawing for AWA, a new comic book company headed by Axel Alonso, Jon Miller and Bill Jemas.

Fight Girls is a cross between Hunger Games and Gladiator.

https://buzzpreview.buzzcomics.net/2020-02/Indes/aHR0cDovL3d3dy5uZXdzYXJhbWEuY29tL2ltYWdlcy9pLzAwMC 8yNzYvNDg4L29yaWdpbmFsL0pvbm5hXzEuanBnPzE1ODIzMDAy MzA%3D.webp

Chris Samnee's return to creator-owned work isn't limited to his upcoming Image Comics/Skybound series Fire Power with Robert Kirkman, as he's also drawing and writing a second ongoing called Jonna and the Unpossible Monsters debuting this May. Co-written with wife Laura Samnee, Jonna will be published through Oni Press - with whom Samnee broke into the industry in the mid-2000s.

"It is a long time coming! I've always wanted to come back to creator-owned but honestly I had a lot of fun on the titles I worked on at Marvel," Samnee told Newsarama. "After co-writing Black Widow, I felt like I had the confidence to go out and do something by myself. I’ve been chipping away at what became Jonna since 2014, so it really was time to get it out there. When my contract ended at Marvel, it seemed like the perfect time to go work on a couple of creator-owned titles."

Jonna and the Unstoppable Monsters is a story about two sisters who are suddenly separated from their father after monsters invade their world. So it's up to them to fight the monsters, and find the man who raised them. The series is partially inspired by the Samnee's own daughters - although the monsters are imaginary.

"Our daughters have definitely helped inform the characters of Rainbow and Jonna!" Laura Samnee explains. "When Chris started working on this book, our youngest, now four, hadn’t been born yet, so the older two are really the ones that inspired these characters. Our oldest is very much a Rainbow - responsible, caring, bookish. And our middle daughter as a toddler really inspired the character of Jonna."

"We definitely pulled a lot of Rainbow and Jonna from our kid's personalities," Chris added. "I also tell the kids Rainbow and Jonna stories when I'm making breakfast and they love to give feedback!"

So if Rainbow and Jonna are on this quest together, why isn't Rainbow in the title Jonna and the Unstoppable Monsters?

Good question.

"Well, Rainbow doesn’t get billing because it would make the title too long!" Chris Samnee said. "Rainbow is the older sister - headstrong, bookish, a bit bossy, kind-hearted and Jonna is the younger sister - energetic, a bit wild and with something special that will be revealed in the book."

The world of Jonna and the Unstoppable Monsters is pre-historic and a bit fantastical, but it takes a dark turn when the monsters show up.

"It’s a pretty idyllic world with lush green forests and little villages at least in the beginning," explains Chris. "Once the monsters invade, the landscape and villages are leveled, leaving the survivors displaced in this new world."

When Jonna was first conceived in 2014, Chris Samnee intended to write and draw it himself but the organic nature of developing it ended up with Laura go from helping her husband to becoming a equal creative partner in the endeavor.

"I didn’t get involved until I was helping Chris put the pitch together and suddenly I was plotting it with him," she said. "We kind of fell into writing it together and at some point I was contributing enough that it made sense to credit me as co-writer."

"Yeah, we really have always worked together so this just feels like a step forward in getting to do something creative together," Chris added. "When we first met, I hadn’t really broken into comics yet and Laura was an aspiring screenwriter. We made a creator-owned book that no one published so it’s really a full circle moment to be working together like this again, all these years later."

The couple, who met while working at a Borders bookstore together 18 years ago, are coming full circle with Jonna and the Unposible Monsters, and creating a series inspired by their growing family - but it's also about the fun of drawing monsters.

"This is the kind of thing that I could see myself doing for years," he said. "I really just want to have something that I’ve done that our kids can enjoy. And I want have fun drawing a bunch of monsters!"

Hello there Olivier, sadly we currently have that item on indefinite hold as we really focus on ensuring our periodicals and other publications go without a hitch.
When this all kicked off beginning of the year the decision was made that it was better to aim to make fewer releases and make sure they went out on time then aim too high and fail.

Je me souviens de Bryan Talbot disant à Terry Moore à Arras: "je suis vraiment bien content de bosser avec Dark Horse, il me font de belles éditions". En comparant la version US de Grandville avec la couverture en relief, et la vf qui est plate et normale.

Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman revealed over their Steg-Man and His Amazing Friends podcast they’re starting a new comics imprint known as Kids Love Chains Press. They also revealed the first series is called Vanish and more will be revealed by August. Oh, and it’s not part of the Spawn universe.

Influences listed for the book includes Wildcats, Spawn, and Akira comics. Cates also joked the villain of the book is similar to Knull and thanked Marvel for letting them use the character. Cates added, “This is all of our 90s crazy s--t, with a little hint of salt of My Chemical Romance emo nonsense.”

Merci scarlet.
Je retiens cela de l'article.

Conan the Barbarian is jumping ship to a new comics publisher – again. Titan Comics and Heroic Signatures have teamed up on the Conan license for comics publication starting in 2023 with a brand new ongoing series. The publisher will also produce remastered archives, including the omnibus program spearheaded by Marvel Comics.

Titan picking up the Conan comics license follows on the heels of last year's announcement that its book division will publish new Conan novels, short stories, and illustrated art books starting in fall 2022, to celebrate the character's 90th anniversary. This line will launch with the Conan: Blood of the Serpent novel on October 18, followed by behind-the-scenes retrospective Conan the Barbarian: The Official Story of the Film on November 1.

The agreement will see Titan publish comics and graphic novels, but also the content previously created and published by Marvel Comics and Dark Horse. Titan states they will publish a new ongoing Conan the Barbarian title as an ongoing series set to launch in May 2023 for the tenth anniversary of Titan Comics' tenth anniversary. They also promise comic book series based on Solomon Kane, Dark Agnes, and Kull the Conqueror.

This also follows Titan Books' deal to publish new Conan novels, beginning with Conan: Blood of the Serpent out in October, followed by Conan the Barbarian: The Official Story of the Film, for November. Intriguingly, Titan is a British publisher, where much of the Conan work would be in the public domain. But that's not the case if they wanted to sell to certain other countries, such as the USA.

Billionaire Island Returns For Another Satirical Swipe at Capitalism: Exclusive

Mark Russell and Steve Pugh are reuniting for Billionaire Island: Cult of Dogs, a sequel that promises comedy and a scathing critique of capitalism.

Screen Rant is thrilled to announce that the creative team of Mark Russell and Steve Pugh are teaming up once again to create Billionaire Island: Cult of Dogs for Ahoy Comics.

The original series, Billionaire Island, was published in 2020 and takes place in the not too distant future where climate change has devastated the world, the economy has spun out of control and the working class (as always) is struggling to survive. But things are all good for the richest of the rich, who take shelter from the crushing problems of the world on an artificial island in international waters. Ahoy Comics' satirical comic series was full of razor-sharp social commentary regarding wealth inequality, the rapidly worsening environment of Earth and the unaccountability of the elite class.

And it looks like writer Mark Russell and artist Steve Pugh are nowhere near done dressing down the state of the world. Screen Rant is excited to share the news that the creative team is returning for a sequel to their original Ahoy offering. Screen Rant has been given a plot description of the series, the cover to the first issue, as well as quotes from the creative team courtesy of Ahoy Comics. Set in the year 2046, two years after Billionaire Island collapsed, the story sees the global economy in ruins and the president of the United States resign in disgrace and flee the country. A cult has risen around Business Dog, the canine chairman of Billionaire Island. The first series' protagonist, Trent, is continuing to hunt down billionaires for the harm that they have caused the working class. "In this brave new world, some Americans have used the sudden absence of the billionaire class to begin building cities to withstand the growing climate devastation, while others invest their hopes for survival in a new cult, centered around a very familiar canine...But who's the man behind the dog?"

Series author Mark Russell says that Billionaire Island: Cult of Dogs "...tells the story of how a planet doubles down on its faith that money will save them and how a dog becomes the focal point of that ill-advised religion." Artist Steve Pugh succinctly sums up the sequel as being about "A man, some mercenaries, total societal collapse, the end of everything, and his dog."

The latest chapter for Billionaire Island is a fantastic opportunity for Ahoy Comics, as well as Steve Pugh and Mark Russell, to continue delivering poignant, yet comedic and timely messages about the state of the world. In a society that’s growing highly aware of its ills, content that isn't afraid to tell its readers the hardest truths is needed more than ever. Will this next offering from Ahoy leave readers laughing and contemplating the consequences of unchecked capitalism? Readers will have to find out for themselves when Mark Russell and Steve Pugh's Billionaire Island: Cult of Dogs releases this fall.

Source Bleeding Cool (https://bleedingcool.com/comics/joe-quesadas-new-non-marvel-project-is-amazing-comics/)

Joe Quesada became known in the 1990s for his work on Valiant titles, before moving to Marvel and DC with comics such as Batman: Sword of Azrael and X-Factor, before forming his own company, Event Comics with Jimmy Palmiotti to publish his own comics, including Ash. In 1998, Joe Quesada joined Palmiotti as an editor of Marvel Comics' Marvel Knights line, before becoming editor-in-chief of Marvel in 2000. He was named Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Entertainment in 2010, re-titled executive vice president and creative director in October 2019 when Kevin Feige took the CCO role. And the end of May 2022, he announced he was leaving Marvel,

He said "I won't ever be too far away, cheering my Marvel family on and contributing from time to time, including something I'm thrilled about for later this year. I also have several insanely cool projects of my own that you'll be hearing about in the coming months, including a short indie film I'm writing and directing. Stay tuned!… My family and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. SPELLBOUND COMICS IS PROUD TO PRESENT

Four all-new, all-different titles ripped from the mind of legendary comic book writer JM DeMatteis (Kraven's Last Hunt, Justice league International) and brought to vivid life by co-creators/artists Shawn McManus (Sandman, Swamp Thing), Matthew Dow Smith (Doctor Who, Jupiter’s Legacy), David Baldeón (X-Factor, Ben Reilly: Spider-Man), and Tom Mandrake (Spectre, Batman).

Welcome to Spellbound Comics, Welcome to… The DeMultiverse!

The DeMultiverse consists of four separate all-new, all-different comic books written by the legendary J.M. DeMatteis (Kraven’s Last Hunt, Justice League International, Moonshadow, and hundreds more). Each of the four titles is completely different in tone and style, and each one is co-created by a different artist…

There’s ANYMAN, illustrated by David Baldeón. A contemporary superhero book with an unexpected twist. If you’ve enjoyed JM’s work on Spider-Man, Justice League or Captain America, you’ll love this one.

GODSEND with Matthew Dow Smith. Who is Godsend? Is he a superhero? An alien? Celestial being? Check out the book JM himself describes as “Jack Kirby meets The Matrix meets Philip K. Dick.”

Then there’s LAYLA IN THE LANDS OF AFTER, an all-ages fantasy about the Afterlife, illustrated by Shawn McManus. From Moonshadow to Abadazad to Imaginalis, there is no greater writer of comic book fantasy than JM DeMatteis. LAYLA is his latest Can’t Miss in this genre.

And finally, there’s WISDOM, brought to visual life via the haunted pen of Tom Mandrake. WISDOM is a supernatural Western and, in my opinion, has the potential to be one of the best things JM has ever written. I’m not overselling here. I’ve read the full pitch. It’s so good, it’s humbling. If, like me, you’re lukewarm on Westerns, don’t be with this one — it transcends the genre and is anything but lukewarm. More like Hell hot. (I’d show myself out now, but there’s more to say!)

All four titles will be available as single issues with a Cover A drawn by the series artist and a Cover B drawn by a special guest artist. We’re keeping some of those guest artists’ names under wraps at the moment, but I can tell you that the variant cover for LAYLA IN THE LANDS OF AFTER will be done by none other than… J.H. Williams III! Folks, I’ve seen this cover and it is, to put it mildly, a banger. If you collect J.H. art, this one is simply a Must-Own. (Side note: Do you have any idea how difficult it is to send emails to a J.H. and a J.M. without typoing?!)

We will also be collecting all four titles in one softcover trade called The DeMultiverse Collection. In addition to the four complete issue #1s, The DeMultiverse Collection will include J.M.-penned introductions to each title where he discusses the genesis of the idea, its behind-the-scenes history, and why he just had to tell this story. There will also be never-before-seen artistic goodies like character designs, unpublished panels, promotional art, and more! And finally, you’ll find a very special foreword on J.M.’s career and works by an absolute legend in the comic book industry, a person who knows J.M. as well as anyone, and that person is… a secret for now.

And now for the really cool part: the part where YOU come in.

All readers who purchase either a complete set of all four #1 issues OR The DeMultiverse Collection TPB will be eligible to vote on which of the four titles will be the first to continue on. That’s right, think of these four titles as TV Pilots and only ONE is getting greenlit to series! (For now.)

No matter how successful this initial campaign is, it would not be economically feasible for my little startup publisher to greenlight all four titles for 4-6 issues immediately (unless we slow-roll their releases to a snail’s pace). So a decision must be made! And since I, myself, have never shied away from making a tough decision, I’ve decided to force YOU to make this one!

You buy. You read. You vote. We make.

Fun, right?

Now, let’s talk business…

If you’re not familiar with how crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter.com and IndieGogo.com work, creators can “pre-sell” their creations before they’re, well, created. Customers (AKA backers) put their trust in the Creators by paying up front before the product is complete, then waiting however long it takes for manufacturing (in our case assembling/printing) and fulfillment before receiving it.

Fortunately, in the case of The DeMultiverse, all four comics will be 100% ready-for-printing by the end of the campaign, so we’ll just need be a little time to assemble the extras for the Trade Paperback Collection, tally up the final number of orders, and send the files to the printer. After that, the turnaround time is anyone’s guess (this being a post-pandemic world and all), BUT we expect to have these in our hands no later than Spring 2023, at which point, we will confirm shipping addresses, and get these beauties into your clamoring hands!

You can choose to back us here on SpellboundComics.com or on Kickstarter for a 30-day period starting in early October, but we hope you’ll back here and help us save fees. In case you don’t know, Kickstarter takes about 10% off the top. The costs we pay for this site are closer to 6%. With profit margins as thin as they are in comics, that extra couple of percentage points is going to mean something. And no matter which platform you support us on, please know the buying terms are exactly the same: Your purchase is paid up front, and fulfilled months later (again, our best guess is Spring 2023), and there are no cancellations after the campaign (or pre-orders) are closed.

One other thing you should know, if you’ve never backed a crowdfunded comic, is that they cost a bit more per issue than what you’re used to paying at the Local Comic Book Store. The reason for this is simple: Larger publishers distribute between 5,000 and 100,000 copies of each of their books which allows them to amortize the upfront costs (mostly salaries and overhead) over a larger number of issues than what typically sell during crowdfunding campaigns for comic books.

The truth is, we’ll be lucky if we get to 1500 backers, yet the costs of production stay the same whether we sell 20 copies or 2,000. So the end result is that each of our small batch of comics will need to bear a larger burden of those costs. As such, we completely understand if you can’t afford to support everything we’re offering, but we do hope you’ll support at least one. And I promise you this: the quality of these books is as good as, or better than, anything else on the racks today. From the writing to the art to the colors to the letters to the covers — all work was performed by topnotch, experienced professionals who combined have worked for every major publisher in the US (and some outside the US).

That should just about cover it. If you have a question that wasn’t answered here, pop on over to our Contact Us page (link at the top or bottom of the page), and shoot us a message.

And with that, I’ll leave you with this: The comic book industry holds a special place in my heart. It provided me with countless hours of entertainment while growing up. It inspired within me ambition and passion that I took into adulthood and the pursuit of my own writing career. And it taught me stories and history and mythology and vocabulary. My #1 aim with Spellbound is to provide all of those things to YOU (and to employ a few of my favorite professionals—heroes!—along the way).

Sincerely,

David Baldy

The comics adaptation follows Seren, a recovering addict currently living in a mountainous rehabilitation center that's very secluded.

Nightwalkers #1 (Image credit: Source Point Press)(opens in new tab)
Although this seems idyllic, the story quickly takes a turn. Seren and the other patients wake up and find themselves locked inside the rehabilitation center with no staff to be seen. The group have to decide whether to break out, knowing they're rather isolated from civilization. Then a monster breaks in, and the decision is made for them.

Jeff Smith is returning to the world of Boneville with the first full-length Bone graphic novel in over a decade. Graphix will publish Bone: More Tall Tales in September 2023. The book is a sequel to 2010’s Bone: Tall Tales*and will be co-written by Smith and his longtime collaborator Tom Sniegoski, with art by Smith, Stan Sakai, Katie Cook, Matt Smith, and Scott Brown. It features a series of stories set in the world of Bone, told by the Bone cousins and their friend Bartleby to a group of scouts as they sit around a campfire. The book will be rated for ages 8 to 12, and Graphix will publish it on September 5, 2023, in two formats, a hardcover with an MSRP of $26.99 and a paperback with an MSRP of $12.99.

Smith originally published Bone as black and white comics from 1991 to 2004, and it was the launch title for Scholastic’s Graphix line, where it was reformatted as nine full-color paperback volumes (see “Scholastic to Launch Graphic Novel Line”). By 2009, Scholastic had sold over 4.5 million copies (see “Jeff Smith Creating More ‘Bone’ Comics”), and subsequently they published Bone: Tall Tales in 2010, and the Quest for the Spark trilogy of illustrated prose novels in 2011-13. In 2016 they marked the 25th anniversary of the series with Bone: Coda, which was less a graphic novel than a fan book, with the full text of Stephen Weiner’s The Bone Companion accompanied by a new 32-page comic (see “New ‘Bone’ OGN Arriving”).

Rising stars Melissa Flores (The Dead Lucky, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) & Daniel Irizarri (Judge Dredd) surgically activate the hidden dimensions of the human senses
Cult phenoms Christopher Condon (That Texas Blood) and Nick Cagnetti (Pink Lemonade) debut the world’s first intravenous video game system
Underground radicals Jordan Thomas (Weird Work) and Shaky Kane (Bulletproof Coffin) surveil the suburbs for signs of covert infiltration
Master cartoonist and foundational Oni creator Phil Hester (Gotham City: Year One, The Coffin) returns to the fold to leave his deepest mark yet

Le livre de magie d'Alan Moore intitulé The Moon and Serpent Bumper Book of Magic arrive enfin et ce sera en octobre 2024 chez Top Shelf :

https://buzzpreview.buzzcomics.net/2024-02/Indes/msbbom-cover_copy0_lg.webp

Internationally celebrated publishers Top Shelf Productions (USA) and Knockabout Ltd (UK) are proud to announce the publication date of the long-awaited THE MOON AND SERPENT BUMPER BOOK OF MAGIC. Born of the longstanding creative partnership between legendary writer Alan Moore (From Hell) and his creative and magical mentor Steve Moore (no relation), this celebration of magic and the occult has been meticulously under development for nearly two decades and is brought to life through a combination of prose, illustration, and sequential art from five incredible artists. This veritable grimoire of the magical, the mystical, and even the macabre will be on sale in October 2024.

The secrets of the celebrated Moon and Serpent Grand Egyptian Theatre of Marvels (sorcery by appointment since circa 150 AD) promise to be revealed in THE MOON AND SERPENT BUMPER BOOK OF MAGIC. This clear and practical grimoire of the occult pairs the knowledge of the proprietors of the aforementioned Grand Egyptian Theatre with illuminating visual delights from artists Kevin O’Neill, John Coulthart, Steve Parkhouse, Rick Veitch, and Ben Wickey. Unprecedented in its scope and splendor, this tome is full to bursting with illustrated instructional essays, activity pages, biographies of the great sorcerers, and forbidden knowledge sure to tantalize even the most disillusioned of adults into believing in magic once again.

“One of the great honors of my publishing career has been to work with Alan Moore on so many monumental projects, like From Hell and Lost Girls,” says Chris Staros, Editor-in-Chief of Top Shelf Productions. “THE MOON AND SERPENT BUMPER BOOK OF MAGIC represents an amazing capstone, created by Alan and Steve, and brilliantly brought to life by five unforgettable artists. It’s been a privilege to watch those magical minds spend years building this grimoire, and I’m proud to join Knockabout in finally sharing it with the world.”

THE MOON AND SERPENT BUMPER BOOK OF MAGIC (ISBN 978-1-60309-550-1) will be available in fine bookstores and comic shops in October 2024.
