STUDIOS | 2014 | It was recently announced that 20th Century Studios will relaunch John Carpenter's film ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK. Despite pockets of market fatigue, we're still seeing comic books trend for properties whose origins never came from the comic industry. Yet, this 2014 Boom! Series was the first time the 1981 film received a comic book adaptation. We tracked it at a high sale of $25 for a raw copy, with a current NM FMV of $15.* #4: WHITE TIGER #1 | MARVEL | 2007 | Recently leaked (and partially speculated) news circulated that White Tiger will join the cast of Disney+'s DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN series. While this makes sense, it's still not determined which iteration. Some sources directly point to the possible casting of Jenny Ortega (also unconfirmed) as Angela Del Toro. Del Toro first appeared in Daredevil #58 and then in full costume in White Tiger #1. However, if White Tiger does appear, she could also potentially be playing Ava Ayala, who first appeared in 2011's Avengers Academy #20. Both books are trending, yet Del Toro's version takes a spot in the Top 10 with a high sale of $300 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $21.* #5: AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #4 – HUMBERTO RAMOS | MARVEL | 2014 | Recent Silk news of a showrunner in Angela Kang and the series set to appear on MGM+ and Amazon Prime has sent Cindy Moon's first appearance as Silk to the 5th spot. While MGM+ does cause some concern for fans, we'll have to wait and see how this takes shape. With renewed market heat, we tracked it at a high sale of $295 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $115. #6: DEADPOOL #1 – KEN LASHLEY – THE HAUL – NOTORIOUS B.I.G. | MARVEL | 2022 | This first appearance of Notorious B.I.G. in a Marvel comic FINALLY sold out at THE HAUL. With a confirmed print of 3000 copies, we expected this to tumble as buyers received their copies. Yet, oddly, this seems to be going back up! 3K is a big print run, so we'll have to watch this over the next few weeks and see how it fares. We tracked it at a high sale of $80 for a raw copy and a current NM FMV of $65.* #7: SILK #1 | MARVEL | 2015 | Silk heat continues with this first solo series. While her first appearance is once again climbing in price, this was one of the next key issues for Cindy Moon. We tracked it at a high sale of $112 for a CGC 9.8 copy, with a raw NM FMV of $25.* #8: BLACK PANTHER #2 | MARVEL | 2005 | Shuri's first appearance sinks her claws into retaining a TOP 10 spot. Her first appearance continues trending, with fans seeing long-term potential in her character. We tracked it at a high sale of $351 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $103.* #9: STAR WARS: HIDDEN EMPIRE #1 – ARTHUR ADAMS (1:50) | MARVEL | 2022 | At first glance, this issue features a gorgeous Art Adams 1:50 variant featuring Darth Maul. Yet, dig a little deeper, and it also contains the first cameo comic book appearance of Iden Versio. Iden should be familiar to Star Wars video game fans, as she was a playable character in 2017's Star Wars Battlefront II. This helped this 1:50 to trend at a high sale of $80 for a raw copy and currently sitting at a NM FMV of $64. It's worth noting that while only trending at cover price, the standard issue is already the 2nd best-selling aftermarket book of the week and quickly overtaking the first, Omega Men #3.* #10: BLADE: VAMPIRE NATION #1 – GABRIELE DELL OTTO (1:25) | MARVEL | 2022 | This recently released variant incentive was a tough book to find in shops. Therefore, fans of both Gabriele Dell'Otto (who knocked this out of the park) and Blade had to turn to online sales. We tracked it at a high sale of $60 for a raw copy and a current NM FMV of $39.*

She also is set to be the latest release for the mobile game Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, hyping fans even further for a well-developed character that doesn't feature the surname Solo or Skywalker. We tracked it at a high sale of $325 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $119. #8:*THE FIRST SEVEN DAYS #1*| BAD IDEA | 2022 |*Bad Idea has a few things down pat. One of which is building the hype train for a book, both before and after its release. They did something different with their latest release, dropping this book secretly under a fake publisher name and promoting it through Diamond Distribution. Once the cat was out of the bag, the community reacted accordingly by snagging what copies they could in the aftermarket. That has slowed down significantly from last week, but the trend continues. We tracked it at a high sale of $51 for a raw copy and an NM FMV of $31.* #7:*INFINITE CRISIS #5 – JIM LEE – REGULAR*| DC | 2006 |*Fans were recently treated to some comforting news. With the shakeup at DC, many were worried that Blue Beetle would be scraped. Luckily, that is not the case. Recently, a teaser poster for the upcoming film was dropped, depicting the Blue Beetle logo and a 2023 release date. Fans visited the aftermarket in search of the first appearance of Jaimie Reyes as Blue Beetle, the man behind the mask set to appear in the film. We tracked it at a high sale of $195 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $39. #6:*MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR #1 – DOTUN AKANDE (1:25)*| MARVEL | 2022 |*Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur have been around for some time and have developed a following. Marvel went ahead and dropped a new ongoing series to a fair bit of fanfare, and this 1:25 Akande variant was the apple of many collectors' eyes. With a TV adaption set to debut on Disney Channel and Disney+ early in 2023, many wonders if Marvel will be adapting this newest ongoing series that aims to introduce the younger generation to a fun set of heroes. We tracked it at a high sale of $80 for a raw copy and an NM FMV of $70.* #5:*DAREDEVIL #254*| MARVEL | 1988 |*Many fans have been eying the return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil in any capacity. Since the announcement of Daredevil Born Again, little snippets of information have slowly reached the fanbase. One tidbit is the casting of Margarita Levieva as a love interest of Matt Murdock. Speculation began to run rampant that she was cast to play Typhoid Mary, who first appeared in this book. Remember that this is purely speculation, but some in the community didn't mind and opted to pick up a copy. Confusing, we know, but with word of an ongoing title and the reception Hallow's Eve received, fans of the character continued the trend from last week by visiting the aftermarket to secure her first appearance. We tracked it at a high sale of $65 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $15. #3:*UNCANNY X-MEN #229*| MARVEL | 1988 |*This book was an under-the-radar key for years before Logan was released in theatres and revealed the big bad of the film, The Reavers. First appearing in this book, the Reavers consisted of Pretty Boy, Bonebreaker, and Skullbuster. It also featured the first appearance of Tyger Tiger (mad creative), a crimelord based in Madripor. Recently, speculation began to swirl that the casting announcement of Sandrine Holt in the Daredevil Born Again series could point to a live-action adaptation of Tyger Tiger. The community proceeded to do its thing. We tracked it at a high sale of $200 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw FN FMV of $6. #2:*THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1 – SALVADOR LARROCA – HUSTL. – EMINEM (LIMITED 5000)*| MARVEL | 2022 |*This book has become quite an interesting outlier in the comic community. Whether you are searching for the*spotlight variant*or the first print, these books have quickly become expensive with healthy aftermarket. We tracked it at a high sale of $250 for a raw copy with an NM FMV of $176.* #1:*THE JOKER: THE MAN WHO STOPPED LAUGHING #3 – LEE BERMEJO – COVER B*| DC | 2022 |*This book is the sequel to James Tynions ongoing Joker series, and this cover B variant features the art of Lee Bermejo. Bermejo was the artist behind one of the most iconic iterations of the Joker in the graphic novel Joker, written by Brian Azzarello. Fitting, he would return to the character, delivering a visceral cover that can't help but be tongue in cheek as it features a Santa Joker with a wee-little redhead Robin on his lap. Fans have taken note, keeping this book on a hot streak. We tracked it at a high sale of $150 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $17. #9: POISON IVY #8 – JENNY FRISON – COVER E – FOIL (1:50) | DC | 2023 | In her recent run, Poison Ivy has turned over a new leaf, angling to be more of a hero as she takes on the divisive subject of fracking. The series has its fans, but this Jenny Frison 1:50 variant cover sure helped bring a few more on board. She even appeared in last week's Top Ten with her cover for Harley Quinn #25. It's safe to say that people like her work, especially when depicting some of DC's heavy hitters. We tracked it at a high sale of $90 for a raw copy with an NM FMV of $50. #8: VENOM: LETHAL PROTECTOR #1 | MARVEL | 1993 | Yet another book that's been popping up on our lists as of late. Rumors continue to swirl that the Lethal Protector storyline is ripe for an adaptation by the new director for Venom 3, Kelly Marcel. Keep in mind that's all speculation, but this book marks the start of one of the most identifiable runs for Venom ever created. Fans hope Sony will opt to adapt the storyline. We tracked it at a high sale of $160 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $19. #7: STAR WARS #30-ANDRES GENOLET – DESIGN | MARVEL | 2023 | The recent Star Wars run has been full of first appearances of new characters, species, and now droids. This book features several first appearances of unnamed characters, but attention is focused on the rather cold addition of the Nihil droids. This book features a menacing Nihil droid front and center, the only cover to do so, and it's SICK! Did anyone else get some Iron Giant vibes? And is Nihil short for annihilate or an ode to Darth Nihilus? We tracked it at a high sale of $19 for a raw copy and a VF FMV of $8. #6: THE INCREDIBLE HULK #347 | MARVEL | 1988 | Joe Fixit, a personality of The Hulk, got his own comic run recently. While that book didn't appear on this list, his first appearance did! Fans often opt to go directly to the source as they have so many times prior, and this is no different, especially when it is an easy-to-acquire book with pricing that's consistently affordable. We tracked it at a high sale of $289 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a VF FMV of $20. #5: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1 – SALVADOR LARROCA – HUSTL. – EMINEM – SPOTLIGHT (LIMITED 1000) | MARVEL | 2022 | This book just will not quit! It's been on an absolute tear since its release, with the secondary market blowing up. As of this writing, a recent auction for a CGC 9.9 hit $5,900 (final sale numbers pending). Not bad for a book that MSRP'd for $75 and was dangerously shipped in a regular mailer. Fans are obviously willing to shell out crazy money for a rarer B&W variant with a fifth of the print run compared to the original, but where does that end? No one knows, but follow the journey on CovrPrice, as we'll have the details and the data! We tracked it at a high sale of $2,400 for a CGC 9.8 copy and an NM FMV of $438. #4: SUPERMAN #123-GLOW-IN-THE-DARK | DC | 1997 | The 90s were rife with epic costumes for some of our favorite heroes. Superman got the same treatment, crushing it with the blue suit aimed at containing his new electromagnetic powers. This glow-in-the-dark direct edition cover was released to commemorate the event, while the newsstand editions didn't glow. Fans appear to be eyeballing this issue as Jon Kent is beginning to develop some electric powers of his own in his most recent run! We tracked it at a high sale of $80 for a CGC 9.4 copy and an FN FMV of $3. #3: BATMAN/SPAWN #1 – BARNES & NOBLE | DC | 2022 | This book was one of more than 12 variants released to commemorate the third outing of Batman and Spawn and quickly became one of THE books to get. While it was released as an exclusive to a major retailer, these books went quickly. Fewer high-grade copies made it to the aftermarket as retailer shelves are not conducive to minty fresh books. Since its release, this book has seen steady gains in the aftermarket and on our Top Ten and Runner-Up lists! We tracked it at a high sale of $200 for a CGC 9.8 copy and an NM FMV of $38. #2: MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS #1 | MARVEL | 1984 | This book marks the beginning of an epic storyline that introduced the fanbase to numerous new characters and crazy events. One of those characters was The Beyonder, well, at least his voice, as he was just a bit of light. The Beyonder has massive potential for the future. While Marvel recently announced their Secret Wars project will be pushed back until 2026, it's unknown if they'll lean more on this storyline, the 2015 series, or something new. That has yet to stop fans from picking up this entry issue, hoping that Marvel might pull from this run. We tracked it at a high sale of $468 for a CGC 9.8 copy with a VF FMV of $35. #1: SECRET WARS II #3 | MARVEL | 1985 | Marvel has a habit of building characters up for an inevitable payoff. Whether it's in a big or small way is always up for grabs, but fans appear to have a funny feeling regarding the Beyonder. He previously trended due to his appearance (played by Lawernce Fishburne) in the MOON GIRL AND DEVIL DINOSAUR series, but facts and rumors are swirling, causing him to trend all over again. Now, it's been confirmed he will return in comics this year, a part of an event that will reportedly be BIG for the Marvel universe. Completely unconfirmed are the rumors he will appear as a Kang variant in the upcoming ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTAMANIA. While he first appeared as some light and a voice in SECRET WARS #1, this book marks his first cover and full appearance in human form.
