Big Bang Universe #2 The MARVELOUS National Guardians – BADGE, GOLDEN IDOL, BUTTERFLY, VENUS, RAMM, EL GIGANTE and BLACK ADDER face HYPER-APE. Meanwhile, The ANCIENT MARINER seeks the BLUE OX to aid his conquest of the surface world. Solo adventures include BLACK ADDER -plus RENEGADE in a thriller illustrated by RON FRENZ and SAL BUSCEMA!! Special Notes: This issue ships in a 4:1 ratio of standard Ron Frenz/Sal Buscema New Guardians (cover A)cover design to a Sterling Clark New Guardians alternate cover design (cover B), meaning out of every FIVE copies of this book that are shipped, FOUR will feature the Frenz/Buscema cover version, and ONE will be the Sterling Clark at no extra cost!! Every fan of the legendary BIG BANG brand of comics excellence knows BB is all about a passionate and highly-skilled homage to the great comic books of yesteryear. Certainly all BB readers will have their favorites; perhaps the best-known over the years have been the DC/National- inspired characters like ULTIMAN and The KNIGHT WATCHMAN. But the creative sights of Gary Carlson and his talented co-conspirators CAN channel other “flavors”, and this issue they do so to spectacular effect, recreating the look, feel and downright EXCITEMENT of the classic Silver Age Marvel Comics from Stan Lee’s House of Ideas- and MAN do they do it BIG!! You may feel your nostalgic longings for the “good old days” of comics fun coming back with a …VENGENCE… when you read “Evolutionary War”, starring the NATIONAL GUARDIANS- the Free World’s greatest heroes, a marvelous assemblage that fights the foes no single hero can defeat. This time around, The BADGE, GOLDEN IDOL, BUTTERFLY, VENUS, RAMM, EL GIGANTE and BLACK ADDER battle to defeat the HYPER-APE, whose bombs can reverse evolution, transforming humans into gorillas. Written by Gary Carlson, penciled by Sterling Clark with inks by Tim Stiles and Terry Huddleston. But that is only the beginning!! The ANCIENT MARINER, ruler of the Seven Seas seeks to enlist the help of the bombastic BLUE OX to aid in his conquest of the surface world in a follow-up NATIONAL GUARDIANS adventure, “To Battle The Blue Ox”, written by Gary Carlson, penciled by Sterling Clark and inked by Ken McFarlane. Also, there’ll be a solo adventure that pits BLACK ADDER vs. the villainous team of Dr. CADAVER and the IRON MAIDEN- “The Doctor of Death”, written by Gary Carlson, penciled by Sterling Clark and inked by Tim Stiles. Then, there’s “Mutant Melee”; with story and pencils by Sterling Clark, and inks by Terry Huddleston. Finally, the High-Flyin’ RENEGADE stars in an action-packed thriller “Three Against The Renegade”, drawn and inked by ACTUAL long-time Marvel bullpen veterans RON FRENZ (artist on Thor, Spider-Man, Ka-Zar, Spider-Woman and others)and SAL BUSCEMA(artist on The Avengers, Spider-Man, The Hulk, Captain America, The Defenders, Sub-Mariner and many more) with dialogue by Sterling Clark. All this plus pinups by Joe Sinnott, Jeff Austin and David Zimmermann!! The only OTHER way to get this kind of comic book excellence is to build yourself a time-machine and go back to 1968!! All seriousness aside, if you love the spirit of the seminal Marvel books of the mid-1960’s and wonder why “they don’t make comics like that any more”; well, THIS crew does!! This thrilling second issue of BIG BANG UNIVERSE ships with TWO different cover options- a “standard” NATIONAL GUARDIANS cover version by the legendary RON FRENZ and SAL BUSCEMA and a special alternate NATIONAL GUARDIANS cover by the talented contemporary artist STERLING CLARK.. If you want to be certain of getting BOTH great cover versions, be sure that your local retailer orders enough copies of this issue- and keep in mind that ordering through Diamond is the ONLY way to receive this variant. As always, if you want to catch up on all things BIG BANG , check out their website at BigBangComics.com. Don’t forget to place your order with your local comics retailer for BIG BANG UNIVERSE #2, 80 pages of classically-styled black and white, never-before-printed comics action with full color covers, saddle-stitched, shipping in December from AC Comics!!
