A priori positif donc. |

Why did you and Ellis leave Moon Knight ? I thought you were enjoying doing it.
I’m getting a lot of questions about this so felt I should address it. Firstly, thanks to everyone for all the feedback on MOON KNIGHT #4. Jordie and I worked really hard on it, and it’s great to see so many enjoyed such a bonkers issue. Now, to your question. Well, Warren had decided that 6 issues was all he wanted to do. He wrote 6 excellent issues (the last of which I’m currently inking) and I really am enjoying the hell out of them; I truly am proud of them all. But regardless, there will be no more Warren Ellis scripts, so my choices were to continue on the book with another writer, or step aside and let a new team try their hand. Personally, I like seeing a new creative team take over. There’s something more pure about it. No matter who took over as the writer, if I stayed on the collaboration just wouldn’t be the same, and there would be a change in the work as a result, which would probably be unfairly blamed on the writer. I felt it would be better to step aside with Warren, leaving on a high note, making our run ‘Moon Knight Season One’ and let a new team do their own thing right from the first issue of the new arc. Afterwards I found out the new writer was Brian Wood, someone I’ve worked with many times (and would LOVE to work with again). I admit, I second guessed myself for a minute and considered staying on with Brian, but I know Brian and the new artist Greg Smallwood (who is QUITE excellent) will do a fantastic job taking what Warren and I did on the book and doing their own thing with it. Jordie is staying on with them; anyone who knows my work on MK knows how HUGE a part of the book Jordie has been. So, if anything, I can’t wait to see what they’ll all do on MOON KNIGHT. Also, I’m staying on covers, so tonally the book will be the same; just with some interesting tweaks by some accomplished creators. I’ve seen a little of what Brian has planned and it sounds GREAT. As for me? I’m taking a break. I’ve been busting my arse non-stop for the past 4 years at Marvel, as well as short stints at DC, Dark Horse, etc. I’m taking a holiday, doing some short stories (including a MURDER BOOK story with Ed Brisson) I’ve long promised to folk, some cover work and after that, we’ll see. I had something planned, but it looks like that won’t happen for a while. In any case, I’m just gonna take a little break from monthly mainstream comics and work on something of my own. And hey, there are still two more issues of MOON KNIGHT ‘Season One’ to go! So I hope ye all read the rest of our run and give the new creators a chance in September. Dec.
