DC’s critically acclaimed DC Power Black History Month anthology returns on January 29 as DC Power: Rise of the Power Company. This 32-page one-shot celebrates DC’s Black Super Heroes and storytellers and paves the way for The Power Company: Recharged, a new DC All In one-shot, launching April 30.

DC Power: Rise of the Power Company spotlights “Company Man,” a two-part prelude to The Power Company: Recharged, by Black Lightning writer Brandon Thomas with art by Charles Stewart III, Anthony Fowler Jr., and Ulises Arreola. Following his brief cameo appearance in Black Lightning #3 (on sale January 15), this story reintroduces readers to Josiah Power: attorney, metahuman, and onetime leader of the Power Company, a group of superheroes for hire, now disbanded. Co-created by Kurt Busiek and Tom Grummett, the Power Company first appeared in 2002’s JLA #61, and the roster included well-known DC Super Heroes such as Manhunter and Firestorm.

As Power grieves over the death of his nephew Daniel due to the actions of Amanda Waller, and as his own energy-manipulating powers are growing out of control, he quickly realizes that a new iteration of the Power Company may be the only solution to the problem of growing anti-meta sentiment, and Jefferson Pierce, a.k.a. Black Lightning, is the key.

In DC Power: Rise of the Power Company, the fallout of Amanda Waller’s campaign of disinformation and mistrust of metahumans is seen in a compelling lineup of stories by an exciting roster of writers and artists:

Vixen and Bolt team up to battle anti-metahuman sentiment in a hospital where citizens are getting treated for emerging abilities in “Ring of Power,” written by Zipporah Smith with art by Kelsey Ramsay and Francesco Segala
Cyborg and Green Lantern Jo Mullein face off against Despero in “Unfinished Business,” written by John Jennings with art by Caanan White, Atagun Ilhan, and Andrew Dalhouse
In “Dynamic Duo,” writer Vita Ayala and artists Ray-Anthony Height and Chris Sotomayor deliver a different kind of Batman and Signal team-up as Jace Fox and Duke Thomas fight crime, drink ginger beer, and play Spades on the mean streets of New York.

The Power Company: Recharged is written by Bryan Edward Hill (in his DC return) and features art by Khary Randolph and Alitha Martinez. This new DC All In one-shot dives deeper into how this new iteration of the Power Company—made up of Power, Black Lightning, Batman (Jace Fox), the Signal, and Vixen—will not only rebuild humanity’s faith in heroes and fight against the rising tide of anti-metahuman hate but stop a serial killer targeting metahumans in the streets of Atlanta. The main cover is provided by Edwin Galmon, with variant covers by Ryan Benjamin, Sanford Greene, and Paris Alleyne.

DC Power: Rise of the Power Company features a main cover by Khary Randolph and Emilio Lopez, variant covers by Alitha Martinez (with Mark Morales and Andrew Dalhouse), Davi Go, and Valentine De Landro.
