Nicolas Cage will play the ex-cop father of a sword-wielding pre-teen girl vigilante in writer-director Matthew Vaughn's "Kick-Ass," an adaptation of Mark Millar's magnetic graphic novel about an adventure-starved high-school nerd who puts on a superhero costume and heads into the inner-city to exact justice.
Vaughn is the filmmaker behind "Layer Cake" and "Stardust."
Aaron Johnson, who played the young Charlie Chaplin in "Shanghai Knights," has just been cast as the nerd-superhero title character.
Gorgeous 21-year-old Lyndsy Fonseca, who played Sarah's Henrickson's wild co-worker Donna on "Big Love," will play the dweeb's object of desire. Her character hangs out with Kick-Ass' civilian alter-ego because she believes him homosexual.
Chloe Moretz ("Dirty Sexy Money") was previously announced to play Cage's daughter. "Superbad" star Christopher Mintz-Plasse plays angry teen villain The Red Mist.
Shooting is expected to start this autumn. |
