It was every art dealer’s nightmare. Anthony Snyder was visiting his sister in Phoenix Arizona. He awoke at 3 a.m. to get an early start on his trip to last summer’s San Diego Comicon. He carried a large Green American Tourister suitcase out to his rental car in the driveway, set it down next to the trunk and went back to get another suitcase which he decided would fit better if placed in first. The street was deserted at that hour and it seemed safe to leave the suitcase in the driveway.
In the few minutes he was gone somebody had snatched the suitcase. The luggage held 10 standard modern size art portfolios. Over 200 pages of art was missing from Jack Kirby Kamandi pages to Will Eisner paperback art to pages by John Byrne, Steve Ditko and many others—thousands of dollars of art!
