The Italian writer and artist Mirka Andolfo will take the helm of the newest Red Sonja series from Dynamite. Mirka Andolfo’s Red Sonja will launch in September with a story arc titled “Mother,” in which Sonja comes upon the remains of a village that was burned to the ground by the Three-Eyed Shezem. The only survivor is a child with mysterious white tattoos, and together, Sonja and the child set off on a journey to solve the mystery of what happened and save the child’s life.
For this series, Andolfo will work with co-writer Luca Blengino, artist Giuseppe Cafaro (Sacred Six), colorist Chiara Di Francia, letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, and editor Nate Cosby. The first issue will feature a main cover by Andolfo and variant covers by Jay Anacleto, Joseph Michael Linsner, Erica D'Urso, Brett Booth, plus a cosplay cover featuring Tabitha Lyons.
Andolfo’s Image series include Mercy, Unnatural, Sweet Paprika, and Deep Beyond, and she has also been the artist for many DC series, including Harley Quinn, Hex Wives, DC Bombshells, and Catwoman.
