This August, BLACK CAT is back in an all-new solo ongoing series written by superstar writer G. Willow Wilson (MS. MARVEL) and drawn by rising star Gleb Melnikov (AMAZING SPIDER-MAN). Spinning directly out of Joe Kelly, Pepe Larraz and John Romita Jr.'s AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (2025), BLACK CAT kicks off with Felicia Hardy testing her luck at being a full-fledged super hero.

The series will be a radical shift for the character's solo adventures as Black Cat finds herself battling supervillains, including many of Spider-Man's most fearsome foes, amidst her usual high-stakes capers. But is her most recent change of heart for purely altruistic reasons or simply a way to pull off her greatest heist yet?
SUPER-THIEF, SUPER…HERO?!

Felicia Hardy is the BLACK CAT, the world's slyest and most skilled super-thief! She loves a good score. The longer the odds – the better! But her entire world turned upside down after Spider-Man's battle with Hellgate in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (2025) #8-9, so Felicia is turning over a new leaf as New York City's newest…super hero?!

The first super villain on her list – THE LIZARD! But will the Black Cat risk it all after her do-gooding moral high ground attracts dangerous attention from the lowest of the city’s underworld? Easy, KINGPIN OF CRIME, she's still skimming off the top – honest! Don’t miss the winding road of twists and turns, laughs and mind-bending action of BLACK CAT's next exciting chapter!

The series marks Wilson’s first ongoing Marvel series since her groundbreaking run of MS. MARVEL (2015) ended. Wilson wrote a short tale starring Black Cat last year in SPIDER-MAN: BLACK SUIT & BLOOD (2024) #4.

"As soon as SPIDER-MAN: BLACK SUIT & BLOOD dropped and people saw the Black Cat story, readers began to ask me, 'When are you going to write more Felicia?' Well, the answer is: right now," Wilson shared. "Black Cat is so much fun to work with. She's a supporting character with main character energy. And she has such a rich history that there are tons of tantalizing story threads to pull on."

"I was itching to draw more of Felicia after finishing my first Spider-Man issue, so when [Editor] Tom Groneman asked if I was interested in working on the BLACK CAT series, I typed 'YES!' faster than a lightning bolt," Melnikov said. "Black leather, street-level fights, and the chance to draw our favorite usual suspects from Spidey's rogues gallery? Sign me up! Not to mention I'm very excited to work with Willow and color artist Brian Valenza."

In March, Marvel Comics announced that a new era of Thunderbolts was coming this June by writer Sam Humphries (UNCANNY X-FORCE) and rising star artist Ton Lima (WEST COAST AVENGERS). Today, a startling truth is revealed—in classic Thunderbolts fashion, this latest iteration aren't at all what they seem! They're the NEW AVENGERS!

Since their debut as a team of disguised supervillains, the Thunderbolts have become synonymous with unpredictable twists and unconventional rosters. This legacy continues with a surprise—and first-of-its-kind—comic book title change that echoes the jaw-dropping twist in Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*, now in theaters, while introducing an entirely new—and shocking—team of heroes!

THE WINTER SOLDIER. BLACK WIDOW. CARNAGE. THE HULK. NAMOR. CLEA. WOLVERINE. It's a group of the most dangerous loners and antiheroes in the Marvel Universe, and yet they'll come together as the NEW AVENGERS!

In classic Avengers fashion, they'll assemble to take on a threat too big for any one hero to combat—corrupt clones of the Illuminati! And in the spirit of Brian Michael Bendis and David Finch decade-defining NEW AVENGERS (2004) run, this radical lineup will usher in a revolutionary new era of Earth's Mightiest Heroes!

Elated to finally talk about the secret change, Humphries said, "Plot twist, it's been NEW AVENGERS all along! I promised surprises, and this is the first of many. It's a thrill and an honor to continue the grand New Avengers tradition of team dynamics that are as explosive as the threats. And this era has two combustible teams: the New Avengers and the Killuminati!"

Check out the covers, including a homage to David Finch’s iconic NEW AVENGERS (2004) #1 cover by Whilce Portacio, newly revealed character variants by Derrick Chew, Ejikure and Woo-Chul Lee and the first of three Marvel Studios Variant Covers. Next month, IMPERIAL (2025), a four issue event series by visionary writer Jonathan Hickman and superstar artists Iban Coello and Federico Vicentini, kicks off a galaxy-spanning conflict, boldly transforming the cosmic landscape of the Marvel Universe. The highly anticipated series sets the stage for a new line of intergalactic storytelling, starting with five IMPERIAL WAR one-shots that spotlight individual characters and groups as they navigate the startling developments and explosive conflicts sweeping the stars.

These key chapters of the overarching IMPERIAL (2025) narrative will each be co-written by Hickman and the first two, IMPERIAL WAR: BLACK PANTHER #1 by award-winning writer Victor LaValle (WOLVERINE: SABRETOOTH WAR) and acclaimed artist CAFU (VENOM) and IMPERIAL WAR: PLANET SHE-HULK #1 by rising superstar Stephanie Phillips (PHOENIX) and extraordinary artist Emilio Laiso (GODZILLA VS. X-MEN), hit stands in August.

The Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda is under fire from all sides in IMPERIAL WAR: BLACK PANTHER! Blamed for the assassinations that have started an all-out galactic war, T'Challa will first need to survive a brutal assault from the World-Breaker Hulk and Amadeus Cho before he can even think about hunting down the true culprit! And all while his spacecraft spirals towards certain doom! Sounds like another day at the office for the Black Panther!

"Working with Jonathan Hickman on an interstellar epic—who wouldn't be thrilled by that idea? I'm excited to start working on the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda because there's not enough stories about Black folks in outer space. There could always be more. By the time I'm done, T'Challa and Shuri will have constellations named after them, in some distant galaxy," LaValle said.

"She-Hulk's voice just came naturally to me from the first line—she’s so sharp, funny, and confident," Phillips shared. "It's been incredible getting to bring her story to life as part of IMPERIAL and see what this talented lineup of creators is building together."

Thor's impending demise in the pages of Al Ewing's IMMORTAL THOR has been teased for months. Now, learn about his coming rebirth! Following IMMORTAL THOR (2023) #25 in July, Ewing will launch a new run of THOR (2025) alongside artist Pasqual Ferry, who makes a thunderous return to character following his acclaimed work during Matt Fraction's THOR run. A major shift in Ewing’s overall Thor narrative, THOR #1 sets up a captivating new status quo for the God of Thunder unlike any in his 60+ year history.
THE LEGEND BEGINS!

The Norse Myths tell of Gods who walked the Earth, doing great deeds for the mortals who believed in them. But Asgard isn’t real, and never was. The Gods never soared in our skies, never stood with our heroes, never fought for kindness or justice. It was all just a story. Nobody’s coming to help us. But somewhere in the city... a man is waking up.

A man with a hammer.

You'll have to join us to find out."

Message de Millar partagé sur ses réseaux sociaux avec les logos de DC et Marvel.

OK, when I was on holiday around 18 months back I was swimming in the sea off the coast of Oman and had this amazing idea for a Superman story. I swam back to the boat, got a notepad and pencil and scribbled wet notes so I didn't forget it. Cut to a couple of weeks later and I mentioned this on Twitter, DC's head honcho getting in touch and asking me to write it.
Towards the end of last year, Marvel boss CB Cebulski asked me if I fancied doing something big for them again, even if it was just a one off project, but I said the same as I said to DC which was that Netflix exclusivity forbade me from doing work at other studios and I still had a ton of work to get through. But the idea of doing something outside of Millarworld, just this one, really intrigued me, and I get ahead on everything, carving out 12 weeks to do a special project you're going to hear about on Tuesday next week. Stay tuned! PS The artist is SPECTACULAR!

AVENGERS IN THE VERACITY TRAP HC GN
https://buzzpreview.buzzcomics.net/2025-05/Marvel/STL372429.jpg

(W) Chip Kidd (A/CA) Michael Cho
It begins with an epic battle in Asgard, as Loki, the god of mischief, comes into possession of a weapon of unimaginable power and assembles an army of otherworldly monsters in an effort to carry out his evil plans. Cue the Avengers-Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Giant-Man, and the Wasp-who meet this horrifying throng of beasts head-on as a thrilling, knock-down drag-out fight ensues. But when the smoke clears, what appears to be a typically raucous comic book take-down is revealed to be something very, very different-and very, very terrifying. And this discovery threatens to destroy the Avengers in a way that Loki or any other foe never has before. Because this time the enemy is... the Truth. Writer Chip Kidd and artist Michael Cho have created a mind-bending, visually sumptuous saga that takes the Avengers-and you, the reader-to places that challenge everything we thought we knew about super heroes and the very nature of heroism... villainy... and existence.

Back in February, at a ComicsPro panel held in Glendale, Calif., the editors in chief of Marvel and DC revealed they were quietly assembling something they hadn't pulled off in more than two decades: a crossover event.

From time to time, going as far back as 1976 with the arrival of Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man, "the Big Two" comic brands have been known to bring their superhero titans together for the kind of convergence that their cross-pollinating fan bases crave. The last time they did this was in 2003, when JLA/Avengers kicked off a comic book arc that played out into the following year, but there hasn't been a collaboration of this magnitude since.

"A lot of things have to align," Dan Buckley, the President of Marvel Entertainment, explains to Entertainment Weekly. "Mostly we plan our editorial schedule pretty far out. DC does their schedule pretty far out. You want to have the right talent involved because with this type of thing, you want to elevate it as much as you can to get people excited."

Jim Lee, the President, Chief Creative Officer, and Publisher for DC Comics, echoes similar sentiments in a separate chat over Zoom, noting how DC typically works two-to-three years in advance.

"It happens kind of once every generation of readers. I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions as to why," he comments. "The timing has to be right in that you don't want to do these too often. You want them to feel special. It is sort of finding that right moment for both companies to come together because it is complex. There's a lot more coordination, collaboration, approvals that have to be done. And, obviously, from the business side, you're sharing revenue, but it's going to be a big deal. So you want the story, creatively, to warrant the hype of it all."

The time to reveal the next crossover is finally here...Deadpool, meet Batman.

EW can exclusively reveal that Marvel's Merc with a Mouth and DC's Dark Knight will collide this year, crossing swords and batarangs across a new publishing event. On the Marvel side, Zeb Wells, the Spider-Man comics scribe who recently worked on the big-screen spectacular Deadpool & Wolverine, pens a Deadpool/Batman one-shot with art and cover design by veteran artist Greg Capullo, who most recently worked on Wolverine: Revenge.

The story, kicking off this Sep. 17, tells how Wade Wilson is hired for a job in Gotham City that puts him in the crosshairs of the World's Greatest Detective. Accompanying the main one-shot will be a lineup of "backup adventures" that features "exciting Marvel and DC character match-ups," according to an official description. However, details on what that entails, including the creative teams, will be shared at a later date.

"After writing Amazing Spider-Man for 60 issues, I told Marvel I needed a break," Wells tells EW in a statement via email. "Marvel told me I could do that or I could write a comic starring Deadpool and Batman with the best Batman artist of our generation. I no longer needed a break. In Batman we've found someone who has even less time for Deadpool's antics than Wolverine, but a city-wide threat from the Joker makes strange bedfellows (literally, if Deadpool had his way). It's been a blast letting Deadpool loose in Gotham City and watching what happens."

Capullo feels similarly. "Am I dreaming? This crossover is likely to be the high point of my career...and, I’ve had a great career," the artist adds via email. "Some of my earliest work (many years ago) was on X-Force, so Deadpool and I go way back. More recently, I spent 10-plus years drawing Batman at DC. The idea that I get to do a crossover event with Deadpool and Batman...If I am dreaming, please don’t wake me!"

Whenever Buckley hears a Zeb Wells idea, it's usually something that's equally funny, clever, and heartfelt, the top brass says. "That's how I feel about what he is putting together now," Buckley remarks. "And I know Mr. Capullo will deliver in spades on the emotional storytelling and all the action, because that's what he does every time he does his story."

DC brings together comparable creative heavyweights to tackle their respective one-shot. Batman/Deadpool, launching later this November, hails from writer Grant Morrison, whose comics (including All-Star Superman and Batman and Son) now serve as inspiration for the James Gunn and Peter Safran-led DC movie-verse, and artist Dan Mora, who, similar to Capullo, has an immense list of credits to his name. (Details on DC's story and the accompanying "backup adventures" will be announced at a later date.)

The dynamic duo of Morrison and Mora previously worked together on Klaus, the BOOM! Studios comic series that reimagined Santa Claus as a muscled, grizzled warrior.

“I don't do many comics these days but there was no way I could turn down the chance to work with Dan Mora again, one of my all-time favorite artistic collaborators — and definitely no way I could turn down Batman and Deadpool!” Morrison says in a statement. “Expect 4th wall-busting mayhem, owls, blood, blades, and at least one giant typewriter!”

Mora also writes over email, "This is more than I ever imagined I could do in my career, and it is a huge honor to be part of this crossover: it doesn't happen too often, and I am a huge Deadpool fan! When I first worked with Grant, I didn’t know what to expect, but it was an incredible team-up. I always hoped to work with Grant again, and working on Batman/Deadpool is like a dream come true. Grant and I working together on this once-in-a-lifetime project is going to be such a fun experience."

Deciding on the right combination of characters to cross over involved "a constant flurry of emails," Lee explains. "It's not just two people, it's groups of people. So, yeah, the conversations tend to be very robust and long."

Buckley adds, "It just felt like a fun combo. I'll be quite frank. It was nothing more complicated than that. Like, Deadpool hanging out with Batman. There's a lot of levity to be had in there, a lot of fun. And it would also be a little bit uber violent at the same time.... Our big thing is we want to do something that is a lot of fun, showcase comics, generate excitement, and bring new readers or lapsed readers back into the industry."

The other piece of news is that Deadpool/Batman — or Batman/Deadpool — is not the end of the Marvel and DC crossovers. Another set of one-shots will arrive sometime in 2026, though both sides remain quiet in terms of which characters will team up next and which creatives will be involved to create those adventures.

"Anyone that's working in comics today grew up with a Marvel, DC crossover at some moment in their reading timeline history," Lee cryptically comments. "I think once you become a creator, you want to work on the biggest characters for both companies, but then to be able to do something that only happens every 15, 20 years, it is something you don't want to pass up. So I think fans are going to see a lot of interesting projects from their favorite creators. That's all I can say."
