Death is a part of life for almost every major superhero, but for DC's Resurrection Man, it's just part of the job. And later this year, he's going to be using his uncanny ability to live, die, repeat (with a new superpower each time) to save the universe in new comic book series Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma.

Announced Thursday by DC Comics, Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma will see the creative team behind Image Comics' critically acclaimed Blue in Green - writer Ram V (The New Gods, Detective Comics) and artist Anand RK (Batman: Urban Legends) - reunite for this six-issue Prestige format series that's part of DC's adults-only Black Label imprint. For V, it's been a story he's been waiting to tell for over six years.

"This is a story I’ve wanted to tell since I first started writing for DC,” Ram V says in the announcement. "It's lingered and stayed and got its hooks into my mind and my love and excitement for the character and story has only grown."
Who is DC's Resurrection Man?

Originally conceived in the late '90s as a revamp of Marvel's Mr. Immortal (who appeared in the Disney+ She-Hulk: Attorney at Law series), DC's Resurrection Man debuted in 1997 by Guardians of the Galaxy writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, along with artist Jackson 'Butch' Guice. Resurrection Man is the moniker for a South Carolinian man named Mitch Shelley, who finds out that if he dies he miraculously comes back to life with all his memories (sometimes with a lag), and with some new superpower related to his previous life. With the nature of superhero comics and the reboots, revamps, and returns, Resurrection Man was literally built for this new series.

"Part of the joy of writing comics for me, is getting to reinvent, reimagine characters in a way that speaks to my own preoccupations and joys; with Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma, I hope readers will share in my excitement as Anand, Mike and Aditya and I tell a story of endless lifetimes, saving universes and falling in love, spanning the length of all existence," Ram V said in a statement about the new title.

Ahead of this new series, there are several previous Resurrection Man series on the DC Universe Infinite digital subscription platform if you are so interested.
What is the Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma plot?

In Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma, Ram V and Anand RK are confronting their hero with someone who has his powers - with a twist.

"After living and dying his latest life, Shelley awakes with a new purpose to go along with his latest power: saving the universe. This version of Resurrection Man must battle across time and space against a sadistic Word War II internment camp captain who has inherited a twisted version of Shelley’s abilities," reads DC's description of the series. "As the lines of cosmic order begin to blur, Mitch Shelley will literally die to save the universe, more than once."

In a tie to the past, Resurrection Man co-creator Jackson 'Butch' Guice is drawing one-page synopses for all six issues to recap the history of the character.

Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma #1 (of 6) is scheduled to hit shelves April 2. The first issue features a main cover by Jeff Dékal, with variant covers by series artist Anand RK, original co-creator Jackson 'Butch' Guice, and Dan Panosian.

Read the “Zero Issue” Prelude to Superman Unlimited for Free on May 3 with DC’s Free Comic Book Day Offerings

DC today announced a new ongoing comic book series, Superman Unlimited by Dan Slott and Rafael Albuquerque, launching in May 2025. Dan Slott, known for his expansive world-building as the writer of Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer, She-Hulk, Mighty Avengers, Superior Spider-Man and more, makes his DC ongoing comic book series debut with Superman Unlimited.

Superman Unlimited will be a driving force and key title in DC’s upcoming All In “Summer of Superman” publishing initiative, along with DC’s Action Comics and Superman comic book series, and more. Look for more “Summer of Superman” news in the coming weeks!

Superman Unlimited #1 will be available at local comic book shops and online retailers on Wednesday May 21, and the new ongoing series will launch with a 10-page prelude by Slott and Albuquerque in DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1 on Saturday, May 3, as part of DC’s Free Comic Book Day programming. This is the perfect time for both regular comic book readers and new readers to jump on board for an all-new era for Superman!

“He’s the first and the greatest superhero of all-time, and I’ve been waiting my whole life to tell stories about him,” said Slott, “Not just because of all the amazing powers he has, but because of who he is inside. Rafael Albuquerque and I are going to take him—and you—to places you’ll want to escape to every month. Millions of surprising ideas for Superman, Lois, the supporting cast, classic rogues, and all-new friends and foes too. If you’ve never read a Superman book, a DC book, or any comic book before—or if you’ve been a Superman fan your entire life—you couldn’t ask for a better place to take the leap and go all in than Superman Unlimited #1.”

To kick off DC’s Superman Unlimited series in May, a massive extinction-level Kryptonite asteroid showers Superman’s greatest weakness down upon the earth, creating an arms race for the new most valuable resource on the planet: Green K. The greater availability of Kryptonite in the DC Universe changes the balance of power in the criminal empires of Metropolis and across the globe: Intergang, under new leadership, is on the rise, with practically all their foot soldiers carrying at least one clip of Kryptonite bullets on them. The asteroid left massive Kryptonite deposits to be mined, and it houses unlimited horrors yet to be unpacked. To survive, Superman will need to forge new alliances, new tech and new tactics if he hopes to carry on his quest for truth, justice and a better tomorrow!

Superman Unlimited won’t just provide Superman’s nemeses with near-unlimited Kryptonite: the Daily Planet gets an upgrade. A merger with a new incarnation of Morgan Edge’s Galaxy Communications expands the Daily Planet brand into a multimedia news platform with a cable news channel, website, strong social media presence, and—yes—Lois Lane is still editor in chief. Daily Planet regulars Jimmy Olsen, Ron Troupe, Cat Grant and Steve Lombard will staff satellite branches across the DC universe, creating a global network. Behind it all is the tech savvy of a new IT specialist from Gorilla City, King Solovar’s goddaughter, Tee-Nah.

“Superman Unlimited adds to the foundation of DC’s Superman comics in the same way Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness’s Superman/Batman did in the early 2000s,” said DC group editor Paul Kaminski. “Superman Unlimited will capture the big, fun, high-flying adventures that Superman is known for, while also providing big moments for DC’s Superman-related comics with the introduction of a massive new Kryptonite deposit. Imagine a world where Superman is stopping a bank robbery, but every weapon is packed with Kryptonite ammunition and every petty criminal carries a Kryptonite shiv. This is a world of unlimited danger on a level that Superman, and DC’s Superman family of characters, has never faced before.”

“We just launched Justice League Unlimited in the fall, and Mark Waid and Dan Mora are telling a tale of unlimited Super Heroes in that ongoing series,” continued Kaminski. “In contrast, Slott and Albuquerque’s Superman Unlimited is a tale of unlimited Super-Villains that are super-charged by Kryptonite. Green K is everywhere. Superman is going to need to get to work and adapt to survive. Every line of Dan’s pitch is packed with surprises and every line Rafa draws is stunning… 2025 is truly going to be Superman UNLIMITED.”

Superman Unlimited #1, written by Dan Slott with art and cover by Rafael Albuquerque and Marcelo Maiolo, will publish on May 21, 2025. Main cover will retail at $4.99 US while card stock variants will retail at $5.99 US. DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1, containing the 10-page "Zero Issue" of the new ongoing series, will publish on Saturday May 3, offered for free while supplies last at participating comic book stores.

DC’s “Summer of Superman” comic books will feature limited and ongoing series starring Superboy, Supergirl, Krypto, and more, and the event will highlight DC’s deep roster of Superman-related characters. Stay tuned for more comic book announcements to follow Superman Unlimited.

Summer Of Superman, Here We Go!

Before making his big splash in the DC Universe with Superman Unlimited, acclaimed writer Dan Slott joins storytelling heavyweights Mark Waid (Justice League Unlimited, Batman/Superman: World’s Finest), Joshua Williamson (Superman, DC All In Special) and Jorge Jiménez (Batman, Super Sons) for the Summer of Superman Special, arriving at participating comic book shops and digital retailers Wednesday, April 16.

In this oversize issue, Slott, Waid and Williamson deliver a single story in three acts, highlighted by Jiménez’s dynamic art style that has made him a favorite of comic book fans worldwide. The wedding of Lana Lang and John Henry Irons (a.k.a. Steel) serves as the backdrop for an outpouring of love and support from family and friends. However, their big day will also be big trouble, as threats from the past, present and future will spawn major new conflicts for the Superman family.

Featuring a main and variant cover by Jiménez, this 48-page one-shot features additional variant covers by Alexander Lozano, John Giang, Mahmud Asrar, and Dan Jurgens, plus an adorable variant cover featuring Krypto, (Super)man’s best friend, by Chrissie Zullo-Uminga.

The events of the DC All In Special return to haunt the DC Super Heroes of the DC Universe this April, as the publisher today announced plans for “We Are Yesterday,” the first major crossover of DC’s All In publishing initiative. Fan-favorite storyteller Mark Waid is joined by an incredible roster of co-writers and artists to helm parts one to three of this story, taking place in the pages of Batman/Superman: World’s Finest, Justice League Unlimited, and the Batman/Superman: World’s Finest 2025 Annual.

On April 16, Gorilla Grodd takes center stage as “We Are Yesterday” kicks off in Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #38. The Man of Steel and the Dark Knight will be hard-pressed as it is to keep up with the psychic powers of DC’s sinister simian, but this time there’s something different, as if Grodd has knowledge of the future. And it remains to be seen what any of this has to do with the death of Darkseid! In addition to the first of three connecting main covers by artist Dan Mora, Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #38 features variant covers by Gavin Guidry, Adrían Gutiérrez, and Elizabeth Torque, plus an April Fools’ Day variant cover by Brandt & Stein.

Writer Waid and artist Travis Moore are staging one of the biggest throwdowns of DC All In when this issue hits comic book shops on April 23. This issue features the second of three connecting covers by Justice League Unlimited artist Mora, with variant covers by Lee Bermejo, Nathan Szerdy, Dan Jurgens, Felipe Massafera, and Moore.

As part of the Dawn of DC, Popverse favorite, Joanne Starer took former Justice League members Fire and Ice to Smallville for a dose of reality, DCU style, in Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville. In the new All In era of DC, Starer is taking them back to Superman’s hometown just in time for everything to go to hell. And maybe I don’t mean that metaphorically.

The six-issue Fire & Ice: When Hell Freezes Over sees Starer and artist Stephen Byrne pick up on a plot thread left dangling at the end of 2024’s Absolute Power event: although the two heroes have fixed their relationship in the Welcome to Smallville series, now they’re faced with a new problem — their powers have been mixed up, and they don’t have a clue how to use them. Or, for that matter, not even stop themselves from accidentally causing disaster with them.

DC’s description of the first issue of the series runs as follows: “In the pages of DC’s Absolute Power event, Fire and Ice had finally achieved what Fire always wanted. The dynamic duo made a glorious return to the ranks of the Justice League—and during a major world crisis, no less! But when the crisis was overcome, the smoke had cleared, and all the superpowers were restored, Ice found herself shooting off uncontrollable spurts of fire, and Fire had ice crystals forming at her fingertips. Oops. With their powers switched and no solution in sight, Fire and Ice tuck tail and regroup in Smallville, where they realize their predicament makes them something worse than has-been heroes: menaces to the local community they’ve come to love. But Fire’s always got a plan, no matter how shortsighted! And when she goes digging around in Zatanna’s bag of tricks for a quick fix in the middle of karaoke night… what could possibly go wrong? Aside from, y’know, everything. Again.”

The first issue of the series features a cover from Terry and Rachel Dodson, with variant covers from David Nakayama, Jeff Dekál, and Kevin Wada. Take a look at the covers below:
