DC Comics has revealed James Tynion IV and Álvaro Martínez Bueno will continue their The Nice House on the Lake series with a new 12-issue series The Nice House by the Sea. Launching the first issue on July 24th, the series will be colored by Jordie Bellaire with letters by Andworld Design. Judging by our reviews, this masterpiece is only going to get better.

“The people in this house do not like each other,” shared Tynion. “They don’t want to spend time with each other. There have been some weak bonds that have formed over time, but none of them are particularly affectionate toward each other. This is a house of strangers and tension much more than a house of friendship, and we’re going to see the way that guilt, boredom, and loneliness has twisted each of them.”

The new cast of characters include the Doctor, the Writer, the Historian, the Actor, the Artist, the Priest, the Scientist, the Singer, the Politician, and the Mathematician. This time, they’re all strangers. And they’re at the House by the Sea by choice.

“Unlike our lake house, everyone in The Nice House By The Sea accepted the deaths of all their friends, family, and loved ones,” continued Tynion. “They accepted the eradication of the human race and their selection as the last humans that will ever exist. It’s a truth some of them think they can live with, but the way they are living with it is by never, ever looking at it.”

“I’m working with one of the best creative teams in comics right now,” added Martínez Bueno. “We’re doubling the stakes we placed three years ago and we’re pushing The Nice House on the Lake in new directions while holding together the core of what makes the project so exciting. The challenge of creating the new cast, the new locations, and reimagining the entire iconography of the series for The Nice House by the Sea has been the most exciting of my career so far.”

Trop de mystères tue le mystère : Ce sera sans moi.

12 # pour le premier volume, sans une fin quelconque, sans réelle avancée de mon pt de vu suffisante pour me donner envie d'y revenir. Cela faisait longtemps que je n'avais pas eu enfin, en refermant le second volume, de les revendreillico.

Graphiquement c'est magnifique mais pour le reste je suis clairement resté sur le bord de la route...

assez d accord avec aegnor (sauf sur le mystere où je trouve justement que ca en manque pas mal quand même... ou en tout cas pour moi)
Chaque arc est super au départ puis l interet retombe vite et la fin en queue de poisson ou cercle de mobius est franchement décevante.

Je me souviens qu a la lecture des deux premiers chapitre par exemple, j en avais faius un foin à ma compagne.. mais c est retombé ulta vite.. j en ai discuté avec des potes qui eux aussi sont assez surpris de la hype autour du titre.. pas que ce soit mauvais.. mais juste un bon titre (mais sur lequel j investirait pas le prix d un TP et encore moins le prix d une VF.. mediatheque here we come)..
Un peu comme department of truth où là aussi ca tourne vite à vide je trouve. Le pitch est cool mais

Je suis assez surpis d ailleurs par les succes vf en indé (et vo aussi)..

Si Tynion et Bueno me veulent dans leurs lecteurs, il faut faire avancer l'histoire, pas la RE-raconter sous un autre regard, de nouveaux persos... (C'est déjà ce que Percy a fait il y a peu, avec son Year Zero)....

Pour ma part, je suis au taquet pour cette suite.
J'ai beaucoup apprécié le premier run de 12 numéros, dont je trouve les louanges et les prix mérités, et je me demande, après cette annonce plutôt étonnante, comment Tynion IV va imbriquer son nouvel arc dans la trame globale.
Grosse attente.
