:fire:

https://buzzpreview.buzzcomics.net/2023-04/Image/FirePower25A_SamneeCover_R2-min.webp

oday Skybound announced that Fire Power by Kirkman & Samnee will return for an all-new story arc this summer. The high-octane comic series from the superstar team of creator/writer Robert Kirkman, creator/artist Chris Samnee, colorist Matthew Wilson and letterer Rus Wooton kicks off a fifth arc with issue #25 arriving July 26, 2023.

Fire Power will return with a double-sized 44-page story picking up where the previous arc’s shocking finale left off, with readers reeling for the Johnson family. After learning Wei Lun killed his parents, Owen cannot let the past go.

“No lie, Issue #25 might be my favorite of Fire Power yet,” said Amanda LaFranco, Editor, Skybound Entertainment. “The battle might be over, but the war is not yet won, and the tension between Owen and Wei Lun is palpable as the group recovers from the epic finale of our last arc. We’re building to something BIG in these next issues, and Robert and Chris are putting on a masterclass of character and stakes in this double-sized return, you won’t want to miss it!”

Fire Power by Kirkman & Samnee #25 (Diamond Code MAY230222 | $4.99) will be available at comic book shops and digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.

Source Image Comics (https://imagecomics.com/press-releases/tony-s-daniel-launches-new-war-torn-fantasy-epic-series-edenwood-this-september-from-image-comics)

https://buzzpreview.buzzcomics.net/2023-05/Image/Edenwood_cover_press_c6815a0147f8285e3b5042ebb3626 151.jpg

Bestselling writer/artist Tony S. Daniel (Nocterra, Batman, Deathstroke) will launch an all-new fantasy series titled Edenwood. This ongoing war-ravaged epic will feature coloring by Natália Marques (Rogue Sun) and debut in September from Image Comics.

Edenwood—An eons-long series of multiverse wars between demons and witches has found earth as its latest battleground. The battle pits Necronema, the demonic land which supplanted the Midwest twenty years ago, against Edenwood, the witchcraft controlled area of land that protects the rest of the U.S. In the first story arc of this ongoing series readers are introduced to Rion, a young man born during the apocalyptic events of southern Illinois, who is thrust into the role of hero and leader after killing a Gather, a transient demon with the powers to cross any barrier or dimension.

"Edenwood is a series three years in the making, one that I was beginning to craft right before Scott Snyder and I crossed paths in NYC and fate took me in another direction, co-creating Nocterra with one of comics' finest writers,” said Daniel. “This series represents what I love most about comics: excitement, drama, big action, heroes we can relate to and fall in love with, and villains we’ll love to despise. This series is very high concept—yet its characters remain relatable and grounded in reality—all while we have an epic, large-scale battleground of demonic tanks, floating battleships and demon soldiers pitted against witchcraft-infused weaponry and armored soldiers. And away from all of the violent magic and mayhem between Edenwood and Necronema, we have the 'Open Lands' (the rest of the United States) where just as much evil is happening but in a quiet, deliberate way, to further the demon expansion. All of this is the backdrop for our hero, Rion, and his cast of fun and exciting demon hunters. So to say that I’m excited to be working on this new series would be one of the biggest understatements of my career!”

Summoned by the Witch War Council, Rion must assemble an elite team of demon hunters tasked with infiltrating Necronema with a list of targets to annihilate. The men and women he selects happen to all be the most famous and revered demon hunters of all time, dating back to the 1700s. But Rion has his sights set on a young and powerful witch being held prisoner deep within Necronema. The mission is one of search and destroy… however Rion feels he’s been chosen for more than that.

Edenwood #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, September 27.

Edenwood #1 will also be available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play

https://imagecomics.com/press-releases/image-comics-joins-lunar-for-direct-market-distribution

Image Comics is pleased to announce a worldwide exclusive distribution deal with Lunar Distribution, effective with September on-sale titles (which will open for order on the Lunar site for retailers on Wednesday, June 14), for Direct Market/comic shop distribution.

Previously exclusive to Diamond Comic Distributors, Image Comics will join DC as one of Lunar’s largest periodical publishers and will work in partnership with Lunar to share further communications with the Direct Market, including “next steps” details, to ensure a seamless transition for comic shop retailers.

“First and foremost we want to thank Steve Geppi, Chuck Parker, and everyone at Diamond for their ongoing service and all that they’ve done for Image over the years. For over three decades, they have been at our side, supporting our books from the moment we founded our company back in 1992,” said Todd McFarlane, President of Image Comics. “Every Image comic published, since our inception in ’92, has been distributed to thousands of retail outlets by Diamond, and they have played a very important role in our company’s evolution.”

"We have enjoyed our relationship with Diamond over the decades and we have made some wonderful friends there, so this decision has been a difficult one,” added Erik Larsen, Chief Financial Officer at Image Comics, who served as Publisher at Image from 2004-2008. “It was not a move that we made lightly, though, and ultimately, the change was made because of the benefits to readers and retailers who are our real customers. There are services Lunar will provide that will make it easier for stores to buy our titles, and for fans to find our books. This is a big win for them, and we hope this new partnership is as strong and long-lasting as the previous one. We wish Diamond nothing but the best as we look toward the future.”

“We leave with nothing but the deepest respect for Steve, Chuck and all of the folks at Diamond, both past and present,” said Jim Valentino, Image’s Vice President and former Publisher at Image from 1999-2004.

“This is a big change, but we will still be working with Diamond in other capacities and look forward to maintaining those relationships with the Diamond team for years to come,” noted Eric Stephenson, the company’s current Publisher and Chief Creative Officer. “Lunar is an impressive new player in the Direct Market, and we are eager to work with them on the next phase of our development, as well as joining DC in leading the industry toward what we believe are positive changes for everyone.”

Christina Merkler, Co-owner at Lunar Distribution stated: “We are thrilled to announce our exclusive worldwide distribution deal with Image Comics. We are constantly seeking innovative ways to expand our reach and bring exceptional content to our retail accounts around the world. This partnership will allow us to further expand our offerings and provide unparalleled access to the most exciting and sought-after titles in the industry. We look forward to working closely with Image and continuing to provide top-notch service to our Direct Market accounts."

Lunar Distribution was first launched in 2020, when it became the home distributor to DC, and provides distribution services to the Direct Market with an emphasis on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Retailers interested in learning more about how to set up an account with Lunar can visit: https://www.lunardistribution.com/home/faq.

Skybound and Hasbro Delight with Reveal of Energon Universe in Void Rivals #1

LOS ANGELES 06/14/2023 — Today, it was announced that two of the world’s most popular franchises—Transformers and G.I. Joe—have a new comic book home as part of the historic partnership between toy and game company Hasbro and Skybound, effective immediately.

Comic book fans who picked up their copies of Void Rivals #1 in comic shops today were the first to learn the news, as the blockbuster Oblivion Song team of writers Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead) and artist Lorenzo De Felici (Kroma), along with colorist Matheus Lopes (Step By Bloody Step) and letterer Rus Wooton, revealed that the highly anticipated series was actually a stealth launch of this new shared “Energon Universe” with the surprise first appearance of iconic Transformers character Jetfire.

Three upcoming releases, alongside Void Rivals, mark the beginning of the interconnected “Energon Universe” featuring both the characters and franchises you know and love, along with entirely new concepts developed in partnership by Hasbro and Skybound.

“It's a tremendous honor to be able to reintroduce this world to a new audience under the Skybound banner,” said Robert Kirkman. “I've loved these characters for most of my life and to have the opportunity to add to the already rich tapestry Hasbro has built with the all-new Void Rivals is an unbelievable opportunity. If you look at everything done with Transformers and G.I. Joe, you can see the inkling of a vast universe with tremendous potential for crossovers and interaction that will enhance the fan experience while staying true to the individual identities of both concepts. I look forward to exploring that potential for years to come.”

“When we first discussed plan for the surprise reveal in Void Rivals #1, I never expected it would be a secret we could keep for over a year,” said Michael Kelly, Hasbro’s VP of Global Publishing. “Now that it is finally here, we are all excited to finally be able to talk about all the amazing stories to come from our great new partners at Skybound.”

Launching in October, Transformers #1 begins an all-new era for the iconic robots in disguise from superstar creator Daniel Warren Johnson (Extremity, Do a Powerbomb, DC’s Wonder Woman: Dead Earth) and colorist Mike Spicer (Stillwater). Optimus Prime was supposed to have led the Autobots to victory. Instead, the fate of Cybertron is unknown, and his allies have crash-landed far from home, alongside their enemies—the Decepticons. As these titanic forces renew their war on Earth, one thing is immediately clear: the planet will never be the same. New alliances are struck. Battle lines are redrawn. And humanity’s only hope of survival is Optimus Prime.

“To my readers, retailers, and fellow transformer fans: GET READY! I've only been drawing Optimus Prime and the rest of this amazing cast since I was in FIRST GRADE,” said Daniel Warren Johnson. “This is a dream project for me, and I'm so glad to be adding a new chapter to the decades long celebration of robots turning into cars. Also, cab-over trucks are so fun to draw!”

The new Energon Universe expands in December with Duke #1, a limited series from Joshua Williamson (DC’s Superman, Dark Ride), Tom Reilly (The Thing) and Jordie Bellaire (W0rldtr33), that tells the story you’ve never read before – the origins of G.I. Joe and Cobra in a world grappling with the arrival of the Autobots and Decepticons. When Conrad S. Hauser (codename DUKE) investigates the mysteries behind The Transformers, the answers will lead to the birth of forces for good and evil that the world never imagined.

Duke will be the first of four G.I. Joe limited series coming from Skybound, setting the stage for a fresh new take on G.I. Joe, Cobra and the iconic characters that you only think you know!

"Childhood dreams come true! Get hyped! Tom and I are bringing you a new take on Duke and the formation of G.I. Joe that honors all that we love about the characters but takes it into a new and exciting direction,” said Joshua Williamson. “It's been awesome working with Skybound and Hasbro to bring this new take on the G.I. Joe franchise. For the last few years, I've been picking up all of the new G.I. Classified figures, so I am pumped to contribute to this new world of G.I. Joe and Transformers!"

“I’m super excited to be working with Josh and the team at Skybound to usher in a new beginning for these iconic characters,” said Tom Reilly. “The Joes have a rich history in comics, one that we look forward to adding something new and exciting to. It’s going to be a fun ride!”

This will be followed by the launch of Cobra Commander #1 in January 2024, from Joshua Williamson, Andrea Milana (Impact Winter: Rook) and Annalisa Leoni (Oblivion Song). In a world where Cobra doesn’t exist, one man’s sinister plans to utilize the mysterious alien substance known as Energon will send shockwaves across the globe.

“My first comic was G.I. JOE, and I couldn’t be more excited to unite the Transformers and G.I. Joe into one universe,” said Sean Mackiewicz, SVP, Publisher. “This line is being guided by the best comic creators in the world and features the same action-packed, surprise-filled, emotional storytelling you expect from all Skybound comics.”

Void Rivals #1 (JAN238443) is available today at comic book shops and digital platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.

Fans can pre-order their copies of Transformers #1, Duke #1, and Cobra Commander #1 right now at their local comic book shops.

Skybound Entertainment has revealed today one of the longest-running non-superhero comics of all time, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, will return in November with issue #301. The series technically ended back in November 2022 at IDW, but it’s being picked up by Skybound, with Larry Hama returning to continue the record! Joining Hama is artist Chris Mooneyham with covers by Andy Kubert.

Image Comics has signed an exclusive deal with Simon & Schuster for distribution to the book channel, effective January 2024. Simon & Schuster also distributes VIZ Media and BOOM! Studios titles to the book market.

The move follows Image’s announcement in May that it will move to Lunar for distribution to the direct market (see “Image Goes Exclusive with Lunar for Direct Market Distribution”), effective in September 2023.

Previously, Image had exclusive contracts with Diamond Comic Book Distributors for comic shops and Diamond Book Distributors for the book channel; Diamond will continue to distribute Image properties to the direct market as a wholesaler. In addition, Diamond will continue as Image's distributor to the UK and other international markets.

"For the past 20 years we have been able to establish a foothold for our trade paperbacks and graphic novels in the book market thanks in no small part to the support and efforts of Diamond Book Distributors,” said Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Over time, our needs and backlist of titles have grown and our increasing footprint in the marketplace has us excited to take this next step with Simon & Schuster to build a more robust infrastructure for our titles there.”

Welcome to GHOST MACHINE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JupJQ_JjlNQ

Ghost Machine, a first-of-its-kind creator-owned and operated media company officially launched today at New York Comic-Con. Creators co-own all the characters and universes developed for Ghost Machine, sharing in all publishing, media, merchandise, and beyond. The pioneering creator collective is a global best-of-class roster of artists and writers whose award-winning and iconic works include a who’s who of comic book legends such as Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, The Flash, The Ultimates, Black Lightning and Green Arrow: Jason Fabok, Gary Frank, Bryan Hitch, Geoff Johns, Lamont Magee, Francis Manapul, Brad Meltzer, Peter J. Tomasi, and Maytal Zchut. The company plans to announce additional talent in the months ahead, including one major superstar creator. All creators will be exclusive to Ghost Machine for their comics work after completing their already committed to projects.

As the recent Hollywood strikes have shown, creatives are disenfranchised with the traditional industry model – creators seek increased empowerment as a natural progression to an ever-changing entertainment landscape. Ghost Machine’s enterprising business model is at the forefront of this evolution with the characters and full company ownership shared by its creators in every way.

Joint statement from Ghost Machine founding creators: “Our ambition for Ghost Machine is to push beyond superheroes, introducing new genres, characters and shared universes, completely co-owned by all the creators involved. We see this as the future of how creatives will work and retain creative control and meaningfully participate in success like never before.

Our passion is for the magic of graphic storytelling and the emotional resonance of compelling characters. But we are not just a comic book company – we are the first wholly creator-owned and operated media company of its kind, born out of a desire to create and succeed together.”

Ghost Machine’s titles will be published through the original champion of creator-owned comics – Image Comics – the industry’s third largest comic book publisher behind Marvel and DC, which launched in 1992 when seven of the top comic book creators left Marvel Comics to own their own work and ideas. Now, Ghost Machine drives the industry norms and opportunities even further by having top talent collaborate and build out shared universes that they entirely control together. If Image Comics pushed the original boundaries, Ghost Machine is breaking barriers and creating a new frontier for creators.

Eric Stephenson, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer at Image Comics: "It's been incredible to see how much planning has gone into what the Ghost Machine collaborators are putting together. It's an amazing list of talent, but beyond that, they're giving every aspect of this line a lot of thought, so that it's more than just another series launch, it's a true event. The way they're working together, and working with Image, make this a noteworthy development for us, as well as a must-read comics lineup for anyone looking for something different and new."

A two-issue prequel series, GEIGER: GROUND ZERO by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank, ships in November and December before Ghost Machine’s first official release in January 2024 with GHOST MACHINE #1, a 64-page special which will introduce its FOUR SHARED UNIVERSES of characters: 1) THE UNNAMED; revealing a mysterious group of genre heroes from across history, featuring characters and titles like GEIGER, JUNKYARD JOE, REDCOAT and FIRST GHOST. A GEIGER series, based on Geoff Johns and Gary Frank’s hit comic of the same name, is already in development at Paramount TV with director Justin Simien. 2) ROOK: EXODUS; a sprawling sci-fi epic which takes place in the far future, on a world where every aspect of nature is controlled by humanity. 3) The universe of FAMILY ODYSSEYS centering around the time displaced family, THE ROCKETFELLERS, and their friends. And 4) An epic HORROR UNIVERSE co-created and illustrated by one of our secret superstar artists to be announced, currently under contract. Following Ghost Machine #1, Ghost Machine’s titles will begin shipping in April 2024 with an all-new ongoing GEIGER series, REDCOAT and ROOK: EXODUS.

Ghost Machine will be at booth #3045 at New York Comic-Con with its entire creative team holding signings from 2-3pm ET Thursday, October 12, through Sunday, October 15. Talent will also be signing in the Artist Alley at various times throughout the convention. All booth guests will receive an exclusive GHOST MACHINE #1 ASHCAN with a cover by Gary Frank. The first-ever Ghost Machine panel will take place on Friday, October 13 from 12:15-1:15pm ET, moderated by Victor Dandridge, with attendees receiving an extremely limited GHOST MACHINE #1 ASHCAN featuring an exclusive ROOK: EXODUS Jason Fabok cover. Additional collector editions for sale at the booth will include: GEIGER #1 GLOW-IN-THE-DARK LIMITED EDITION, JUNKYARD JOE #1 BULLETPROOF LIMITED EDITION (silver foil cover) and REDCOAT SPECIAL #1 RED REVOLUTION LIMITED EDITION (red foil cover) for $20 a piece or all three for $60 with an exclusive GEIGER BORON ROD GLOWSTICK and a copy of the limited GHOST MACHINE #1 ASHCAN from the panel.

Ed Brubaker se sentira moins seul... :D

As if the news that a number of former DC and Marvel creators have banded together as the Image Comics imprint Ghost Machine wasn’t enough, Image Comics announced Saturday that a further number of creators — including Uncanny Avengers and Black Panther artist Danuel Acuña, Uncanny X-Force artist Greg Tocchini, and Wonder Woman: Earth One artist Yanick Paquette — have signed exclusive contracts with Image imprint Giant Generator to focus on creator-owned projects for the foreseeable future.

The full line-up of creators who have signed new exclusive deals with Giant Generator is: Daniel Acuña, André Lima Araújo, Paul Azaceta, Bengal, Roland Boschi, Max Fiumara, Mike Hawthorne, J.G. Jones, Francesco Mobili, Brett Parson, Yanick Paquette, and Greg Tocchini. All will be developing brand new projects either individually, or with creators yet-to-be announced, with all rights to the projects owned and controlled entirely by the creators.

Giant Generator founder Rick Remender — who signed an exclusive deal with Image in September himself — released a statement to accompany the news: "I've spent the last quarter century building creator-owned comic books and having Image give me the chance to take that knowledge to help other creators follow their bliss and do the same makes me incredibly happy. Working with this murderer's row on the second wave of Giant Generator books has me reinvigorated, I wake up every morning eager to see what these incredible monsters have been up to. As we've proven over the years, we make outstanding comics because we only work with top creators, each given the time and support to do the best work of their careers, work they own, work that lives on for years and years in premiere formats. We focus on the creation of new, wholly original, evergreen reads that stand out from the whirlwind of monthly comics and have proven to stand the test of time."

The first wave of Giant Generator launches from this new influx of talent was announced at NYCC 2023 this afternoon, with three titles unveiled:

Grommets by Rick Remender, Brian Posehn, and Brett Parson
Napalm Lullaby by Rick Remender and Bengal
Dust to Dust by J.G. Jones and Phil Bram

Et donc le projet de JG Jones:

Reis is the tenth creator to join Ghost Machine, the groundbreaking creator-owned/operated media company launched at New York Comic-Con by prolific writers and artists Jason Fabok, Gary Frank, Bryan Hitch, Geoff Johns, Lamont Magee, Francis Manapul, Brad Meltzer, Peter J. Tomasi, and Maytal Zchut

The company’s innovative business model allows its creators to jointly own, run and operate the company and together share in publishing, media, merchandising and beyond like never before

Ghost Machine launches with four shared universes of character-centric titles including Geiger, Redcoat, Rook: Exodus, The Rocketfellers and Hyde Street, which will be co-created and illustrated by Ivan Reis

SAÕ PAULO (December 1, 2023) – Ghost Machine, a first-of-its-kind creator-owned and operated media company recently launched at New York Comic-Con, has revealed the addition of Brazilian superstar artist Ivan Reis. Reis and Ghost Machine’s co-founder Geoff Johns were on hand at CCXP, the largest comic book convention in Latin America, to make the announcement in front of a sold-out crowd today.

Reis joins Ghost Machine recognized as one of the industry’s greatest and most admired artists, having been exclusive to DC Comics for nearly two decades, as one of the main artists for tentpole titles and modern classics alike, such as Green Lantern, Aquaman, Superman, Blackest Night, Brightest Day, and Justice League, many of which went on to become New York Times bestsellers. His illustrations were instrumental for the 2018 feature film Aquaman, and Reis also serves as associate producer and concept artist for the recently-announced Iemanjá movie from Warner Bros. Brazil. Upon completion of his current commitments, Reis along with all Ghost Machines creators, will be exclusive to the company for his comic book output.

Reis will re-team with Geoff Johns, his frequent collaborator on numerous now-iconic DC stories (Sinestro Corps War, Blackest Night, Aquaman) on HYDE STREET, an all-new series which will launch Ghost Machine’s horror universe and introduce strange and bizarre characters like Mr. X-Ray. Hyde Street debuts in January’s Ghost Machine #1, which will feature exclusive Hyde Street covers by Reis, before launching later in 2024. Described as “Blackest Night’s fantastic scope with Twilight Zone’s thought-provoking drama,” Hyde Street will continue Reis and Johns’ tradition of epic, character-centered stories with rich and sprawling mythologies surrounding them.

“Continuing our goal to have the most beautiful books on the stands, we at Ghost Machine are proud, privileged and honored to welcome modern-day master, Ivan Reis, to the family. Ivan was at the top of our list for the next creator to join us and we could not be more excited to have him as the newest creator and co-owner,” said Ghost Machine’s creators.

Ghost Machine creators co-own all the characters and universes developed for their company, sharing in all publishing, media, merchandise, and beyond – a move the creatives of Ghost Machine see as a natural emancipation within the entertainment landscape, allowing them to retain creative control and meaningfully participate in the success of their properties like never before.

The pioneering creator collective is a global best-of-class roster of artists and writers whose award-winning and iconic works include a who’s who of comic book legends such as Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, The Flash, The Ultimates, Black Lightning and Green Arrow: Jason Fabok, Gary Frank, Bryan Hitch, Geoff Johns, Lamont Magee, Francis Manapul, Brad Meltzer, Ivan Reis, Peter J.
