Ka-Zar's bizarre death and resurrection will be explored with the jungle hero getting all-new powers and all-new enemies in the upcoming limited series Ka-Zar: Lord of the Savage Land.

When last readers saw Ka-Zar, he was murdered by the plant-like aliens Cotati during 2020's Empyre event, then promptly revived in a soul-merging process with Shanna the She-Devil thanks to the sorcerer Brother Voodoo. The effects of that resurrection and more will play out in what series writer Zac Thompson calls "an evolution that channels something like Immortal Hulk…"

"The alien Cotati murdered him. The Savage Land brought him back. Lord Plunder has returned - with a vastly new perspective!" reads Marvel's description of Ka-Zar: Lord of the Savage Land #1. "Now united with Shanna the She-Devil in a mystical merging of life energies, Ka-Zar has new abilities, new needs… and new enemies. Thompson will be joined by artist Germán Garcia, who has drawn portions of the aforementioned Immortal Hulk. They'll be joined by colorist Matheus Lopes, who is also coloring Superman: Woman of Tomorrow.

J'ai refeuilleté ces 4 épisodes qui étaient sortis de ma mémoire. C'était pourtant pas mal je trouve.
Par contre, là, il boxe dans une nouvelle catégorie. Cette preview me donne carrément envie !

C'est vraiment beau en effet, mais assez surprenant par rapport aux couvertures, qui offrent un aspect plus morbide. Faut-il s'attendre à un twist sévère au fil de l'épisode ?

C'est exactement la réflexion que je me suis faite... j'ai été attiré par les deux couvs publiées sur Facebook, et je me retrouve avec une preview radicalement différente dans l'ambiance. Alors certes, c'est très joli, mais le contraste est surprenant. Et même s'il y avait un twist, il le resterait, à moins de totalement changer la tonalité graphique.

Il ne se passait tellement rien dans la mini-série principale qu'ils se sont dit :" Et si on en profitait sur les tie-ins, histoire de leur faire acheter?"...
Bin, raté chez moi, le truc écrit à 4 mains pour pas grand-chose m'a suffi.

En tout cas si on cherche des marques de l'empreinte de Cebulski on pourrait les trouver sur les minis.
Ce format n'est plus là que pour raconter des histoires self-contained, c'est même le contraire. Elles découlent d'event ou d'autres storylines, et essaient d'apporter leur marque à l'ensemble de l'univers partagé. C'est le cas pour Black Knight ou Beta Ray Bill, et Kang ou cette mini semblent aussi aller dans ce sens.

Alors oui au final c'est beau, et heureusement car pour le reste c'est soit confu si on n'a pas lu les épisodes précédents tie-in à Empyre, voire bâclé avec juste trois actions en 22 pages pour arriver au cliffhanger. Je sens que je vais me faire violence à finir.
