Currently, writer Brandon Easton and artist Valentine De Landro are guiding Mister Miracle (Shilo Norman) through the terrors of Warworld in Future State: Superman: Worlds at War. On May 4, Easton and artist Fico Ossio return Shilo to the present DC universe, revealing his journey to becoming the “Super Escape Artist” of tomorrow, in Mister Miracle: The Source of Freedom, a six-issue monthly miniseries from DC.

“This series functions as a de facto origin story and a reintroduction of Shilo Norman,” said Easton. Fico and I have a fantastic opportunity to establish him as a major hero in the DC pantheon, while making him a more complex character.”

The “Mister Miracle” show used to be the hottest ticket in town, whether you caught him onstage escaping from perilous traps or spotted him on the streets of Metropolis taking out bad guys. ShazAdam : ça me fait rire. Certains trouvent ça ridicule (Comics.blog), mais je pense qu'il s'agira d'une vanne glissée dans les dialogues (un peu comme il y avait eu Super Luthor à un moment). Pas de quoi pousser des cris d'orfraie.

C'est ce que j'apprécie chez elle.
J'avoue aussi que, même si l'histoire est simple, elle se tient en deux numéros. Alors que plusieurs mini-séries Future State s'achèvent dans la précipitation et ma frustration, j'apprécie un récit à l'ambition mesurée mais qui s'achève dignement.

Ben le costard est vraiment pas mal du tout je trouve. Ca en jette, maintenant, je suis un peu réticent avec les Bat séries. Y a pas que Batman dans la vie ! ;)

Oh, mais ça aurait pu aussi bien tenir en un numéro en ce qui concerne cette Wonder Woman, tellement Jones n'a rien à dire. C'est vraiment une dessinatrice qui se fait plaisir mais qui n'a rien à raconter ici.
D'un côté, je trouve bien que DC donne la chance à des artistes d'écrire. Mais de l'autre, quand je vois ce résultat, je préfèrerai que DC donne du travail à de vrais scénaristes.

Tout ça me fait penser au début de "Brand New Day" avec Spider-Man : il y avait eu de nouveaux vilains. Mais aucun n'a subsisté.

Quitte à bousculer un peu le Bat-verse, j'aimerai que ce soit à la manière de Waid sur Daredevil quand il le confrontait à des méchants comme Klaw ou Dr Doom. Là, j'ai appris qu'en 2021 Tynion allait faire de Scarecrow le grand méchant, avec encore un nouveau look (mais qui est plus réussi). Bref, on ne sort pas de la rogue gallery de Batman.

Je suis un peu bougon, mais un peu d'air frais ne ferait pas de mal.

Mais Marvel Age et Amazing Heroes (à vérifier) en avaient parlé..

(J'ai ressorti les extraits de Marvel Age) Un peu d'histoire Marvel par la Marvel
- MA 36 = ITW Miller / Mazzucchelli , sur leur run qui va débuter (Miller parle de Elektra Lives Again et des passages sont montrés -- le GN ne sortira qu'en 1990)

- MA 42 = Présentation de DD 435, qui n'est jamais sorti (enfin l'histoire prévue n'est pas sortie, un article dans le MA 44 annonce l'histoire dans un Special à venir (on n'a jamais vu))

- MA 44 Annonce une nouvelle Creative Team (Englehart/Williams/Williamson)

- MA 46 Annonce que en Fait Ann Nocenti est la scénariste régulière de DD, et que Englehart reprends Justice du NU

Après, je te rejoins : beaucoup d'auteurs créent souvent des personnages oubliés par leurs successeurs. Ca se comprend, chacun veut marquer la franchise et se sentir libre.

C'est surtout que j'ai ce sentiment que les nouveaux personnages (pas seulement ceux de Tynion dans "Batman") ne sont pas écrits pour durer, ni marquer les esprits, il n'y a pas une idée forte derrière.

Quels sont les personnages récents à s'être imposés ? Miles Morales chez Marvel, Damian Wayne chez DC sont les deux qui me viennent spontanèment à l'esprit, on en pense ce qu'on veut mais ils sont restés, ont survécu à leurs auteurs et si d'aventure ils disparaissaient, ça provoquerait des réactions chez les lecteurs.

Mais, même eux n'ont pas l'impact par exemple d'Elektra avec laquelle Miller a créée une icone.

D'un côté, c'est louable d'inventer de nouveaux personnages. Mais si c'est juste pour les créer sans leur donner une consistance suffisante pour durer, inspirer d'autres scénaristes, bon, ça tient plus du plaisir solitaire d'un auteur.

Et c'est son grand talent sur DD : il a su redynamiser une série et un personnage que pratiquement tout le monde n'écrit que comme une resucée de Miller. A part Nocenti, personne ne m'a donné l'impression comme Waid d'écrire DD autrement.

Moi, j'aimerai voir Batman contre Le Mirror Master, contre Brainiac. J'aimerai voir Superman affronter autre chose que des gros balèzes cosmiques (c'est ce qui a fini par me lasser avec Bendis : Rogol Zaar, Mongul, Synmar. Red Cloud dans "Action Comics", c'était déjà plus intéressant, même si ça été gâché à partir de "Year of the Villain").

Il y a un crossover Marvel que j'aimai bien, même si ce n'était pas complètement génial, c'est "Acts of Vengeance", où justement on assistait à des confrontations déroutantes, improbables (DD se coltinait Ultron !). Mais sur le principe, ça faisait du bien de voir d'autres adversaires et je crois que ça devrait inspirer les scénaristes aujourd'hui, ce "changement de cavalier".

Chip Zdarsky sera aux commandes d'un nouveau titre "Digital First" chez DC.
Il s'agit d'une mini dédiée à la Justice League et intitulée Last Ride.
Elle sera déclinée en 16 chapitres dans sa version numérique, puis en 8 n° dans sa version papier.
Elle débutera en Avril en digital et en Mai en single. Dessins de Miguel Mendonça.

Bon, ça prouve au moins que DC ne se contente pas actuellement de "dégraisser" mais n'hésite pas, à l'occasion, à débaucher des auteurs -et pas des moindres- à la concurrence.

Karl Kesel, Joe Kelly, Bob Gale. Si on pousse un peu le bouchon : Dan Chichester entre Fall of the Kingpin et Fall From Grace (même si c'est assez mauvais), Scott Lobdell.

Oui, Kesel n'était pas mal, mais il y a eu tellement de dessinateurs qui se sont succédés durant son run que ça m'a gâché la lecture. Je sais, je suis chiant avec ça, mais j'aime quand il y a un peu d'unité graphique dans un run.

Joe Kelly, je n'ai pas aimé. Trop fourre-tout (Mr. fear a été mieux exploité par Brubaker plus tard, je n'ai pas aimé son traitement de Black Widow, et puis bon Deadpool...). Et là encore trop de dessinateurs.

Bob Gale, pour moi, n'a fait que passer avant Bendis. Et bon, je n'irai pas plus loin, tout le monde ici sait ce que je pense du run de Bendis.

Ce que je voulais surtout pointer, c'est le manque de renouvellement dans la rogue gallery de Batman et le faible potentiel qu'ont les nouveaux persos de Tynion. C'est dommage car avec Jorge Jimenez, il a un sacré artiste. Mais Tynion, de toute façon, je le trouve bien surcôté : il a du potentiel, un certain talent, mais à mon avis, il n'a pas l'envergure d'un Tom King, qui avant lui avait vraiment proposé quelque chose de plus fort avec Batman.

Following 2020’s surprise panel at DC FanDome Hall of Heroes, DC today announced more details on the return of the fan-favorite Milestone universe of characters from the city of Dakota.

“Since the FanDome panel, Reggie , Denys , and our editorial team have been working incredibly hard to bring this new Milestone to life,” said DC publisher and chief creative officer Jim Lee. “It’s been exciting to see fresh and contemporary takes on the Dakota universe coming together; I think that both new fans and old will be pleased with the results.”

In addition to being one of the co-founders of Milestone Media, Denys Cowan is a legendary comic book artist with a prolific DC pedigree, providing art for series such as The Question, The Question: The Deaths of Vic Sage, Batman Black & White, and Dominique Laveau: Voodoo Child. Reginald “Reggie” Hudlin is a partner in Milestone Media, as well as an Oscar- and Emmy-nominated film and television producer and director. His comic book credits include award-winning runs on Black Panther and Spider-Man for Marvel.

Milestone Returns: Infinite Edition #0

The excitement kicks off February 26 with a digital-first “extended cut” of the Milestone Returns #0 one-shot. Originally available only during 2020’s DC FanDome Hall of Heroes and Explore the Multiverse, this updated edition also arrives in comic book stores on May 25. Milestone Returns: Infinite Edition #0 combines the original 17-page comic with an additional 24 pages of completely new material written by Reginald Hudlin and drawn by artists Denys Cowan, Nikolas Draper-Ivey, Bill Sienkiewicz, and more.

This added content includes a retelling of the events of the Big Bang, the police-brutality protest that unleashed a sudden wave of superpowers in the city of Dakota. This $4.99 “director’s cut” also features content introducing the full new creative teams behind Static, Icon & Rocket, and Hardware, the digital-first series spawned by this new Big Bang, along with a reveal of their issue #1 covers.

“The response from fans after the DC FanDome panel was overwhelming, and that makes this news even more exciting for Denys and me,” said Hudlin. “Introducing these ‘seasons’ of Static, Icon, Rocket, and Hardware is just the beginning. Static Digital-First Miniseries

Following in April, fans can expect new adventures of Dakota teenager Virgil Hawkins in a six-issue Static digital-first series.

In this monthly miniseries (20 pages per issue), bullied nerd Virgil is gifted with incredible electromagnetic powers in the wake of the Big Bang. Now he finds himself caught between an over-militarized police response to Black kids getting special abilities and some of those kids who are using those powers in dangerous and destructive ways. But when the bullies who terrorized him before the Big Bang show up with powers of their own, can Static be the hero that Dakota needs?

Static launches Monday, April 12. Each 20-page issue will be available on participating digital platforms for $3.99.

Icon & Rocket Digital-First Miniseries

The return of Augustus Freeman and Raquel Ervin is also in the works, with a new series featuring Icon and Rocket.

What happens when superheroes actually make a difference? When Raquel Ervin broke into the home of a wealthy Black lawyer, she didn’t expect to learn that he was a nearly omnipotent alien, lost in despair of ever returning home—and he didn’t expect that she would inspire him to emerge from the shadows and become a force for change on the planet he’s trapped on. What starts out as a simple request to stop the drug trafficking in her neighborhood turns into a mission to eliminate the drug trade worldwide. However, this act of heroism has unexpected consequences, making the pair the two most wanted criminals in the world when actually stopping crime leads to the collapse of the global economy!

The debut issue of this six-issue monthly series (20 pages each) arrives June 21 for $3.99 per issue.

Hardware Digital-First Miniseries

The relaunch of Milestone would not be complete without some mention of Curtis Metcalf, and beginning August 23, the first wave of new Milestone stories climaxes with the return of Hardware in a new digital-first series. This six-issue monthly series features the return of legendary artist and Milestone cofounder Denys Cowan with Bill Sienkiewicz on the character that completes the foundation of Milestone and the Dakota universe, both past and present.

All his life, young prodigy Curtis Metcalf was told he was special, and that he would save the world. But it turns out that Alva Industries wanted his beautiful mind for something a lot less noble than that—and his technology has made him the fall guy for the tragedy of the Big Bang. But Curtis is smart enough to not go out like that—and smart enough to steal his inventions back from Alva and start the process of remaking the world his way.

“Bringing back Milestone and the Dakota universe with DC has been an amazing journey,” said Cowan. “Getting the chance to do Hardware again with Bill Sienkiewicz is a dream come true. It’s the book that Dwayne McDuffie and I did together at Milestone originally, and I’ve always felt a strong connection to Curtis Metcalf. Last year, a number of high-rolling individuals were given tours of DC Comics Burbank with AT&T/Warners officials. And as a result, there may be some new options. Because Bleeding Cool has been made aware of plans by big-time DC Comics fans with access to a lot of money. Many millions from across many businesses.

A collaboration of some of the biggest cheeses who, with a combination of personal wealth and raised capital, are making an approach to AT&T. Not to buy DC Comics outright from AT&T/Warners, not to touch the movies, the TV, the games or the merchandise — but solely the rights and ownership — of the comic book side of the publisher. To be able to create and publish the DC Comics line as they would like. Let Warners do the movies and TV shows, but take all the cumbersome work of actually publishing comic books off their hands, while Warners are free to adapt if they wish.

If you could be a member of this group, you have probably already been approached. People who can bring, or can raise, a minimum of eight figures apiece. Who have both an Action Comics #1 and Detective Comics #27 to spare. And who really, really, really like DC Comics. The fans are taking over Arkham Asylum.

(les comics ne rapportent pas , les films peuvent)

J'ai vu passé des stories sur Insta à propos de 2 titres : Batman '89 (j'ai pas retenu l'artiste) et Superman '78 (Wilfredo Torres). Si j'ai compris, ce sera des histoires dans la continuité des films.
Ca rappelle furieusement la série X-MEN 92 qui continuait les aventures des dessins animés X-Men.

During a virtual presentation to comic book store owners at the annual ComicsPRO retailer event, DC Vice President of Sales and Revenue Nancy Spears teased several upcoming comic book projects as part of a discussion of an expanded variant cover program. The changes to the program were made enable more retailers to participate in custom retailer variant covers for their customers. Spears identified a host of publishing projects in the works, including:

More information will be forthcoming on these projects throughout the year. In addition, Spears also confirmed that DC will be participating in Free Comic Book Day on May 1, 2021, but details on specific titles will be revealed at a later date.

Spears comments were part of a larger virtual presentation to retailers, and included DC Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee, new SVP and General Manager Daniel Cherry III, and Editor-In-Chief Marie Javins. Lee reaffirmed DC’s commitment to publishing comic books and the direct market, echoing comments made in an August 2020 interview with the Hollywood Reporter, referencing 2020 sales successes such as Batman: Three Jokers, DCeased: Dead Planet, Batman: The Joker War, and Dark Nights: Death Metal. Lee also provided updates on the more $1.1 million dollars raised for the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (BINC) fund to help struggling comic book stores, while Javins commented on the positive reception received by new characters such as Punchline, Clownhunter, Liar Liar and Ghost-Maker and spoke to DC’s ongoing commitment to a more additive universe of characters.

Each print issue of Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point will include a redeemable code for bonus DC-themed Fortnite digital items, inspired by the events in the comic, starting with the new Rebirth Harley Quinn Outfit. US Subscribers to DC UNIVERSE INFINITE will receive the series for free, including the bonus digital codes.
